Lower Heyford today, and a train into Oxford for a few hours tomorrow.
Got some paint bubbles and rust out of the roof gutter and then treated with Owatrol ... slap some primer and paint about later.
This may be the turn around point as we're due in Braunston at the beginning of next month and we don't wish to rush.
Been a jolly pleasant day full of smiley hire boaters and day boaters, and even seen king fishers and red kites.
No happy hour at the Bell though.
Rog

OK, it's time to be nice to Rog for a change. here's a taster. I think you'll recognise this place... (from our travels - you may also spot the willow tree I cut up with our bowsaw just north of here - logs in the cratch seasoning)...

Queued for two hours at Sommerton Deep. Two C&RT guys helping boats through as the top nearside paddle won't fully close. Some sort of rubber/cloth material stuck around the paddle and they can't shift it with the keb etc. I guess they'll eventually have to put stop planks in and clear it. We decided to get above Sommerton before having a late breakfast ... not a great plan ... didn't eat until 3pm If you're heading this way be prepared for a delay or even a short stoppage. Nice sunny day though, but a tad windy. Rog

Lots of boats heading to Sommerton Deep still. I'm guessing there'll be quite a queue at Sommmerton Deep, which in a way is good as there'll be more people to push the gate open. C&RT have just put a notice out saying Sommerton Deep is open, but will be very slow due to the paddle obstruction. Rog
