They seem to have some issues around railings.
Nice boat though the 1894 one.

We have cut right down on our booze consumption this month, but I'm more of a "moderation" person. Total abstinence tends to result in binging once the booze famine is over, which is bad. We're back to our normal weekend drinking as opposed to our,"Are we drinking tonight?"over Christmas / New Year.

A lovely sunny, blue sky day again ... another walk is necessary I think. Sat watching the birds on the feeders between exercises. Mr Stabby 's thread on the overnight temperature is making me a little nervous about my 'abandoned' boat, but all I can do is keep my fingers crossed as we'll not be back until Thursday. At least the day time sun and temps should mitigate any over night temperature drops (I hope). Rog

I dunno if I dare say this (safety bods wagging their fingers) but sometimes when it is cold I have left a night-light candle burning in a lantern in the kitchen sink overnight. If it falls over the kitchen sink isn't going to burn. Why would it fall over, anyway? It's a long way from the gas bottles, and if our cooker/water heater leaked we'd have smelled any gas. If you put your hand over that lantern it is surprising how much heat it's releasing. That heat has to go somewhere. I reckon the kitchen must be about 2 degrees C warmer in the morning than what it would be without the lantern.
Same with hot water bottles; I often used to put a couple in the car for driving long distances, wrapped in towels. After 9 hours they were still tepid. The heat they had has gradually been released and has helped to keep the car windows ice-free. Well, that's my theory anyway. Put hot water bottles (wrapped in a towel so the heat doesn't go straight away) in your bed in the afternoon - when it's time to go to sleep in the evening your bed is much warmer than what it would have been.
