Sounds like a great plan. You're not turning into foxy are you ? Rog To which particular characteristic of our vulpine friend are you referring? I'm not planning to change the oil every five minutes if that's what you mean.

Only the plotting and planning.
He's up to 2023 already so I accept I'm exaggerating a bit.

I never really have a plan. Or if I do it's always a moveable feast. The year before last I was going to the Caldon Canal, but at Etruria Junction I changed my mind and went to the River Weaver instead. Then last year I went to Llangollen with no clear idea of what I was going to do after that, and then I decided to go to Ellesmere Port, then when I left there I decided to go to Sharpness. Generally, the first trip of the year is the only one which goes roughly to plan, but even then (as in this case) it is subject to alterations and amendment. To be honest, I change my mind so much that I should have been a woman.

Agree, the Weaver is well worth the diversion - but beware Saltersford Lock is now out of action until 18th April. Thanks, but at the moment I am just planning a trip down on the boat lift and then the short run into Northwich so the closure won't affect me. My Mum (and Sam) is coming up for a couple of days, so I thought that would be a nice experience for her, then the following day get the train/ bus replacement service from Northwich to Liverpool as she's never been there, and do the Mersey Ferry/ U boat/ open top bus sightseeing thing etc. Doing this rather than going into Liverpool with the boat would also free up time for me to maybe do the Caldon Canal on the way up. That sounds brill..hope your mum enjoys her trip...

We have to dump the boat and go home for a couple of weeks, which messes up plans a little. In the past we'd have only just got through Atherstone where as the way the stoppages have worked this year, we could have been at Nantwich by now, and about to enter Llangollen. Unfortunately everybody has their share of worries, so our plans are fluid. Once back on board and moving in April, I'd like to carry on to Llangollen, but we'll have to see how things pan out. Where and when we cruise is unimportant in the scheme of things at the moment. Trying to decide whether to move off today ... forecast wind and rain ... actually wind and sun ... bloody forecasts Rog

Woke up to a nice sunny morning in Hopwas but it's clouding over now and rain is forecast to start soon. Not looking too good for the foreseeable future either. Will probably stay put for today.
Hope all works out as best as can Rog.

Less wind tomorrow and a dry morning.
Stay here today wins.

Good luck with whatever it is Roger. It echoes last year for us. Ali’s mum and dad both took I’ll, we were on the Llangollen. We managed with a combination of Chirk rail station, Chirk marina and lots of running around.

Yes the Llangollen's not great for transport home.
Last time we intended to visit (2015 ?) we had to abort and did the Macc instead as transport is so much easier.
That's part of the reason why I'm quite keen to do it this year ... but we'll see how things work out.
Jane and I are fit and healthy (wasn't seeking sympathy) but life touches us all doesn't it.

To be honest Chirk station worked well for us getting to Nuneaton. Chirk marina were brilliant. Just said moor up and go, sort payment upon return. Even watered our plants! Also the hotel near there that has moorings let us leave the boat on there pontoon. Lovely people up that way. We are heading up there again next month. Hopefully we can enjoy it this year.

I feel very self righteous.
Spent a couple of hours polishing all the interior brasses, whilst Jane washed all the ornaments.
Still raining.
