We moored at the wharf in congleton, the pub there was full so we walked up to the queens head, had a tractor in the garden if I remember correctly.
Nice meal and nice beer.
I also went in the rising sun but was on my own so had a couple of beers, was alright had some local brew.
In fact I dont think we went to a bad pub during that entire holiday. Toby at eutoria wasent great but wa adequate.

Rising Sun was pretty good.
Off home tomorrow to see the knee specialist, so will see what he has to say before we decide what's next.

I was expecting the stabby marathon/snickers joke to turn up at this point.
As for pubs I don't go to them except occasionally with other persons.
Not aware of any notably good pubs by water. I generally prefer to remain on the water in Whichever boat I am on at the time so the liquids come from beer shops. Its quite a good cost saving and results in more time afloat which is good. The aim being to spend a minimum of 20.6 hours per day afloat. This allows for transport between vessels.

Yes it would have been.
Well done for not falling into the obvious trap.

Good pub to visit whilst you're waiting for Bridge 20.... The Scotch Piper, Lancashire's oldest pub.
Moor a couple of bridges back, sure its 17, there's a few official mooring bollards there plus a red buoy marking a bit of bank damage further along. walk up the path where the mooring bollards are across the village hall side field and turn right along the main road for 50 yds its the pretty thatched building there...Quite quaint really and worth a visit.

In my experience, it's an extra £1 a pint if you can see a canal or river out of the pub window.

Just remembered a top pub ..... The White Hart in West Stockwith .... home of the Idle Brewery excellent but fairly pricey food .... but the beer probably explains why I just remembered it
