As most people will know, 'ose is a bit of a nightmare on boats.
What do people use? On my cc boat I have a common or garden 'ose which I fight with after use and force into the gas locker.
I've noticed these intriguing 'ose solutions which are sort of springy so a short length can be made longer. Can't remember what they are called.
Then you get flat 'ose.
I sometimes wonder about doing away with 'ose altogether and designing some sort of spout you attach to the tap which projects the water in an arc and you put a catchment funnel in the tank filler.
This would have the added advantage of avoiding negative pedestrian and cyclist interactions.
Any other useful solutions for this problem?

Garden hose on a reel served us well for five years. Me too for 12 years until 2007 but technology has moved on. The hozelock reels are too bulky.

So if you have space whats the issue? Too complicated for you to understand so I'll not labour the point. No I'm interested, you have a boat, most have space for lots of stuff. And you dont have space for a garden hose? Please explain, im sure a person of your obvious low intellect can explain...

I use one of the expanding thingies which collapses into a small bag it shares with connectors and allen key. It came with a spray nozzle, useful for washing down. You just have to make sure you can obstruct the towpath with stools or the like, to lift up the hose to stop ignorant cyclists from running over it. Same goes for flat hoses.

Flat hose on a reel for us. Massively easier to use than a garden hose, especially in cold weather. And of course takes up much less space.

Technology seems to have by passed hoses. The normal garden ones are a nightmare to curl up in a satisfactory fashion. The flat ones are difficult to get back on the reel, if there's still water in them, which there will be. Garden hoses on reels are too bulky. All that's needed is a garden type hose without memory, that you can curl up nicely, then forget about it. It's pretty amazing really that we have things such as computers, robotic production machines and planes that can fly themselves but us boaters still have to put up with shit hoses.

It's pretty amazing really that we have things such as computers, robotic production machines and planes that can fly themselves but us boaters still have to put up with shit hoses. The way to roll up a flat hose is to have it laying flat on the ground (unkinked) and then hold the reel up at a normal waist height. As you wind the hose in, the water falls by gravity and out of the far end. Thus by the time you have wound it in (and donβt do it too quickly) the hose will be effectively empty. Using this technique weβve never had a problem winding in our hose.
