I tend towards the notion that it's a deliberate fire set by the authorities to try and distract the populace from their woes. Macron is meglomaniac enough to pull a stunt like this?

Apparently it was caused by some bloke in the belltower ironing his shirt with a wok.

just after 18:20 local time (16:20 GMT), I wonder why they didn't compare it with UK time which is one hour difference. Weird

From a BBC report; "Mr Heitz told reporters that the first alert was sounded just after 18:20 local time (16:20 GMT), but on inspection no fire was found. Well, why didn't they ask where it was supposed to be? Who reported it first? And did they go away and come back 23 minutes later?

"As time runs out for GMT... will Britain have to run on French Mean Time?" "That’s why a ticking time bomb should be attached to France’s plan to switch off GMT." www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2044937/As-time-runs-GMT--Britain-run-French-Mean-Time.html(magnetman didn't say this, I tried to quote him, but ProBoards's software really is bizarre)

Plumbers blowlamp? Where is MtB? Phil Roofers blowlamp. The biggest building fire I have seen was the rather large (7 bedroom) Neighbour's house when I was about 14 living by the Thames in Hampton Wick. They were catholics so no condoms and loads of children. They had 7 kids under the age of 15. And loads of money. And a big house. Good luck to them I said while cursing the father as he was a scum banker. anyway one day they had some workers doing work, working on the roof. They fucked off for lunch and shortly afterwards the thing caught fire. Nice big old house it burned well. Fire bridgade did their bit. The word in the 'hood was they left a blowtorch on. Insurance is a wonderful thing* Years ago you had to have a plaque on the house for fire brigade response but these days its universal even if you are a banker ! *eta I hate insurance. Imagine how many other more careful policy holders who don't have money to burn and will never make a claim ended up paying for this wealthy man to have his roof and top floor rebuilt. Something he could easily afford himself. Scam based on fear. The worst sort of scam.
