Pontificating idiots more like it !!!
I was looking something up in the Historical section and had a quick look and the thread "Changes to BSS regs for........"
There are some bloody idiots on there that really think they are experts, some are even inventing their own terminology "Back protection of the bollards" for God's sake Trouble is they come out sounding so authoritative that they will convince people they know what they are talking about. If a BSS inspector suggested this, he is a prat and wrong. You always protect downstream only. It's the duty of the upstream supplier to protect their "downstream" (your "upstream")
For god sake you would have to fuse for the lowest possible supply .......... any reduction on 6 amps anyone ? ........ prat
edit I see Gazza's just told them that.

Yes, it's nonsense isn't it. I was amazed at keeping ups statement about his charger supply arrangements Some had the bloody cheek to prattle on about my tasty adapter too....

It's still continuing!!!
My old man would be shaking his head if he sees it. He's a (supposed to be) retired lecturer in electrical engineering, I'm a maintenance engineer with a good electrical background.
I think I'll have to give the rest of it a miss now!!

I hadn't read anything on cwf for quite some time until the stolen boat thread came up and I have to admit that was somewhat addicting. I just glanced at the BSS thread and the amount of bullshit being posted is amazing. When it comes to electrical issues, the forum has several experienced electricians who should be listened to, and those who only wish to speculate should just stfu - electricity is not something to mess around with. I see Smiley Pete doesn't even bother to comment anymore. I guess he got fed up with all the bullshit.
It does seem that the usual suspects are doing their usual pontificating over there. I get a kick out of the midget. He apparently thinks that that is his forum now and that he is the resident expert on everything. What's funny is how he keeps repeating himself until someone takes notice of what he's said, and then he quotes the person agreeing with him just to show everyone how smart he is.
What's really funny is that Dan and his band of disgusting modmonsters are so intent on controlling all aspects of what is said on that forum, they seem to be missing the forest for the trees. The day could well come where Dan et al find themselves being sued by someone whose boat or body are seriously injured because they followed the "advice" put forth on Dan's forum, and Dan will have no defense because the forum is so tightly controlled as to content that he is, in fact, responsible for every word written there.

Canalworld forums, where people that have boated for over 30 years (for two weeks of the year), know fuck all about boats or boating. Every season, you see them floundering, as they leave their berths making a biblical voyage to stoke bruerne and back, where they will meet up in "the boat" snug and bullshit about their epic journeys etc etc. Give em all wanksocks I say.

No, just discovered there is still an IQ of 1 there in MtB's latest effort on the missing boat...
"What we really need is someone who already knows the boat is missing and has a clear idea of what it looks like to spot it, and take a photo.".
No shit Sherlock.

oh dear I had a look at the thread and couldnt really make head nor tail of it! I worked for Edmundson electrical as a buyer for over a year so know what stuff means as I used to price up off plans to bid for contracts. After a while you end up understanding what is required and often pick up mistakes, however I would not tell someone else how to do stuff because its all down to qualifications at the end of the day. I have done the electrics on this boat and as yet I am still alive and have no galvanic corrosion in fact my anodes look like they were fitted yesterday [zinger works]. Over on the other channel lots of bollocks is being spoken and something is going to go wrong at some point. As an afterthought I am qualified in field electrics and generators as thats what I i did in the ARMY

So Peter you will know that breakers etc are in circuit to protect the cables on the current drawing side and not the equipment and are not in circuit to protect the source of the current. Unlike some of them on CWF and apparently a BSS Inspector. Suspect this has all arisen from the change to the regs where in domestic premises fuses etc have to be in a fireproof enclosure, but maybe not it could be that the original boater, the friend just got the wrong end of the stick.

"What we really need is someone who already knows the boat is missing and has a clear idea of what it looks like to spot it, and take a photo.". No shit Sherlock. As I mentioned on another thread here, the midget suggests that the boat should be photographed if spotted. Because calling the police if it is spotted is, what, too simplistic? I guess being the resident expert on everything can be confusing at times.
