So the old Dutch are all 4kw are they? It's just I'm looking at one at the moment. 4kw would probably do me to be fair. Have you got any tips with what to watch out for on them? Not really they are pretty simple. Make sure there is enough head on the supply otherwise it will struggle to burn clean mine used to run better when the tank was full giving 2-3ft extra head. Thanks for that.

I'm almost certain that Refleks are available in a variety of heat outputs, 1.6kw being at the lower end..I looked at them but settled on the Glembring as it seemed identical but was considerably cheaper, it even uses the same fuel controller. I opted for a 8kw model for my 40x12 GRP cruiser, that way I figured it would be running a bit over tickover and have plenty in hand. I was not disappointed kept the whole boat toasty despite the lack of insulation and at night turned down to tickover to keep us plenty warm enough overnight. I opted for a black finish rather than stainless because I felt black would radiate heat better. Phil

For the tank i just fitted a little stainless steel square tank on the roof so plenty of head and if there is a regulator fail there is max 10 litres of diesel to get in. It is annoying topping it up regularly so am going to experiment with a beer keg on back deck (50 litres) but I'm not certain if 3ft head is okay. Hopefully it will be. Diesel.
I tried Kero but it was smelly.

When my 800L diesel tank was full head was about 4ft when empty about 6" Old Dutch still worked but could get temperamental when tank was almost empty so 3ft should be fine

I reckon the way to do veg oil is to adapt s multiguel or wood stove to accept a controlled input rather then messing with and clogging up a Toby regulator made for 28 or 35 sec heating oil. One of these simple DIY drip arrangements might even suit naughtyfox methinks as they can burn old engine oil if done right. "Use common sense and don't be an idiot" good advice in this little video

Copper pipe through a hole in the side of the stove dripping into a small tuna tin. He has a 12v fan assisting the burn. Works well, no black smoke but it does stink downwind.
