You could glue Shania to it for added realism

I've got a Dyson "Car and Boat" 12v handheld vacuum cleaner. It wasn't especially cheap (although it wasn't too bad - bought it from QVC for about 40 quid a month for 3 months) but does it suck! Far more than I thought it would do. Battery lasts about 20 minutes on low power or 6/7 minutes on full tilt which is enough for my hoovering requirements. Plugs into the 12v socket to recharge in about an hour.

I am a little puzzled as to why you need a robot cleaner in such a small area...... Because Shania just lies around all day?

It's much better than I expected for a 12v vac. The only thing with it is that it's handheld and doesn't have a "stick". I did buy the stick for another, similar model but that didn't last too long so not sure if this one isn't properly designed to use the stick. So it's scrambling around on hands and knees at the moment. Other than that, it's very good!

We have a vax rechargeable. Was £60 odd off eBay. Reconditioned. Does what it should do.

The problem with a handheld vacuum cleaner is that it would require some input from me beyond just pushing an on/off button.

The joy of laminated floor, sweep and hoover the collected dust.
I wouldn’t hold my breath much in the eBay purchase, in fact I wouldn’t leave it running when not standing by with a fire extinguisher to hand..

In my last shop we had a blind customer. We would often help carry shopping for her or take a phone delivery to her.
She had a robot one. Just went round and round all day, quite good.
On a few occasions she asked me to find it and plug it in. But it did the job but for the life of me I have no idea what it was called

The more expensive ones are self-docking, they return to the charger and plug themselves in when the battery level falls to a certain amount.

Well I can see the sense of that in a house but not so much in a boat where battery drain could become an issue...though suppose next you'll be telling me it uses diddly squat.. Don't think Id bother with one, I prefer to just get it done myself..dont often use hover anyway.

I'm thrilled to announce that Robert the Robot has arrived, complete with instruction manual written in classical Chinglish, and is quietly charging up in the corner. Happily, even after a couple of hours on charge my boat has not been consumed by a mighty conflagration. I'll liberate it from the charger tomorrow and let it have a run around, and report back on its vacuuming abilities. I'm sure it won't be as good as a woman, but then it probably won't moan as much either.
