Well, after having most of the winter having work on these two locks and everyone sort of stuck. The unbelievable has happened today. They were opened for Easter and everyone went cruising. Remington lock was opened but CRT will be returning to finish, it was on the verge of collapsing. Stemmington lock and Harris lock both today.

The concrete in that photo looks horrendous, is that carts repair work?

Still is collapsing, only from the bottom up. Complete debacle by CRT on the works there, feckin cowboys.

The concrete in that photo looks horrendous, is that carts repair work? Yes, give me a minute to get to the pub and I'll dig out a photo of it empty. To be fair it was on the verge of collapsing, however they may of made it thinner. I've just noticed on the stoppage CRT are claiming the maximum dimensions for a boat on the K and a is 4 metres. Are many boats wider than 13.1 feet, I'm sure it should be more

Here it is, not long open Thanks for that, it's clearer on that photo. So they are going to brick up in front of the concrete. I thought the k&A was 14ft wide? I was thinking my boat would be able to cruise along it, not that I was ever planing to. I wonder if this has left boats stranded?

It should be wide enough, I'm sure someone on here will know the size of the working boats that used it.
I do presume they will be back to brick up the hole however, it might need more work.
Just waiting for a photo of lock 16

To be honest afaik both locks still have stuck boats in so everyone is stranded.
There are a lot of wide beam boats around, I suspect there are a few now confined to a few miles of canal.

There are a few differing dimensions given on the net jimsheads says 14 ft, there is also 13ft10 quoted and 13ft8 so take your pick. I imagine there will be a stink if they've stranded boats by narrowing the locks. Was it contractors who did the work or carts staff?

I will have a look, the work hit local media

I suppose the point is, if his boat passed through the lock before them you would expect it to be able to pass through after any remedial work. If for some reason they have had to narrow the lock for structural reasons then let people know so they have the choice which side of it to keep their boats. I suspect though this is another balls up.

I wholly apologise.
What I thought was called semington lock is actually Harris lock. So only one lock is blocked. It will be blocked overnight until more equipment can arrive.
