Meanwhile the pollution and deaths caused by electric vehicle production gets conveniently brushed under the carpet. The pollution from electric vehicles will always be lower than the ICE vehicles, lots of research on the net for it Martin

I saw a diesel startup at Didcot a few weeks ago. Clouds of smoke a long freight train and despite the fact I was several hundred feet away and smoke was everywhere I swear I saw the train driver grinning

I think that people who advocate a wholesale switch to electric vehicles think they are powered by fairy dust..

Found it gencat.co.uk/dewf.asp these look interesting. I was thinking of making something like this and running on a mix of kerosene and veg oil.

From the spec sheet Maintenance Due to the nature of the filter the water must be replaced every 8 hours of usage, after every 300 hours the system needs to be washed out with a high pressure jet to remove the build up of carbon from the exhaust. A special additive is added each time the water is replaced to assist in keeping the system clean The dirty water must be treated as hazardous and disposed of in the appropriate manor. <iframe width="18.340000000000032" height="4.800000000000011" style="position: absolute; width: 18.34px; height: 4.8px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: -6px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_66674195" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="18.340000000000032" height="4.800000000000011" style="position: absolute; width: 18.34px; height: 4.8px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 863px; top: -6px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_67799266" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="18.340000000000032" height="4.800000000000011" style="position: absolute; width: 18.34px; height: 4.8px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 180px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_71800776" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="18.340000000000032" height="4.800000000000011" style="position: absolute; width: 18.34px; height: 4.8px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 863px; top: 180px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_70741518" scrolling="no"></iframe> I will stick with my indirect cooled engine with wet exhaust.

You are so far wrong you have no idea, cracking one from Holland which shows even with all the battery production, electric production, etc still a third cleaner than ICE, it also takes into account of recycling, which is happening, add in renewables and they are way ahead, and they are the way ahead whether you like it or not. But hey dont worry diesel sales dropping monthly electric cars sales growing monthly and extra taxes been put on ICE vehicles from last month onwards...............

It wont happen because it doesnt have to, you will pay ever hifger prices to run the vehicle of your choice, whilst the clever ones will run very cheaply, the money raised from you will help with infrastructure and paying for the wind turbines, so feel free and pay for my cheap motoring, in fact I implore you to

You seem to equate higher taxation and clean air charges that the green lobby stridently call for with logic, it isnt logical at all. Cheap motoring it might be for now.......only a fool would think that is set to continue. I take it you remember how people were incentivised to go diesel? Much like people are being incentivised to go electric now? How quickly things can change.

All this bollox about electrics is fairytale. Won't happen in my lifetime because the infrastructure nor technology is there yet. In 10 years we won't even have electric, all the power stations will be gone, or switched off by the Chinese.

I wonder how government would be able to raise revenue from electric vehicles.
Currently fuel taxes result in approximate £27 billion per year which is a useable amount of funds. It would be technically awkward to extract the tax from the electricity used so presumably there would be some sort of direct use tax like a payment per mile.
I'm intrigued by Tesla. Too much marketing going on and wild claims about autonomy and sensible prices being "just around the corner" It works to sell cars yes but that's all that is actually happening someome is selling cars. Even claiming the vehicles will increase in value due to software updates! No way. If there was value the software updates would come with a subscription...
Amazing that a Tesla model 3 is twice as much as a Toyota Prius and the Prius costs half as much to run.. Yet people (were) buying the Model 3. And what sort of twat has a range of cars with the model designation S3XY? The 3 would have been E if it weren't for Ford. Mad max marketing.
One of the naughty things about Tesla is that they fix the prices of electricity at the Tesla charging stations. Its not grid prices.
