Perhaps the European Union would care to stump up some cash to save this museum?

That is really sad news John.

That's really too bad John, as this museum was also on my list of places that I wanted to visit, as was a possible visit to someone that's a member of this forum who rescued an old Humber Keel during my now missed UK tour to the Skipton Waterways Festival etc. I hope that they manage to keep the canals in the UK in working order, as I would like to see boats moving on them next time I will have an opportunity to cross over. Peter.

Seems slightly odd when the article would suggest it's at the centre of a number of community projects and initiatives.
Hope something can be done.

The museum has been here before, possibly more than once, istr it was on the brink of closure about 2 or 3 years ago but it recieved funds that allowed for a last minute reprieve.
Hopefully the same will happen.

I would do if |I could afford to but unfortunately my wages have fallen in real terms by around 40% over the last 15 years because of the influx of cheap eastern European labour and the disappearance of the British international transport industry. Why don't you suggest to the ruling class, who have been the winners in that situation why they don't chip in and help?

Swallow your pride and get on the Eurostar It's only 20 minutes in the Chunnel. As I was the last poster before you wrote yours, I presume that this message was addressed to me. You surely are the top-poster on this forum, but probably the worst reader, as my reason for not beeing able to go were very cleary written down a little while ago. The "Swallow your pride" doesn't fit in this story at all, and I'm really sad having to inform you about this. Also for a rich man like you, using Eurostar and whatever other means of transportation you need to get to the Eurostar, and then to get you to all the different places where you have to go with the use of public transportation, plus the overnight stays (as I so far have no experience in overnighting in cardboard boxes under bridges, or sleeping in the sanitairy facilities along the canals), that would need quite a lot more money than driving to the ferry, crossing the Channel , sleeping in my (not yet) converted car, and visit everything and everyone I want to visit. But as my reason for not having been able to go has nothing to do with this, I wrote this only for your information. Peter.

Perhaps the European Union would care to stump up some cash to save this museum? Well given that are leaving i think thats incredibly unlikely. I cant recall where the funding came from the last time it was saved but im fairly certain it wasnt the EU then either.

The latest on FB is that the charity barge "Sobriety" and the barge "Service" are being returned to their owners. Special efforts are apparently being made over the tug "Wheldale" (and presumably it's jabus and the Tom Puddings) but the other three boats are being treated as assets.
I hate to think of the amount of hard work and enthusiasm that has been put into that place by so many people being chucked out ..... terrible

You'd think Goole would be able to support a small museum. Perhaps all of Goole's politicians should be harried over this. I thought that museum represented an important story in the history of Britain. What is the Yorkshire Tourist Board doing about this? How about the 'Royal' Family chipping in? Meghan's got the dough to swan over to New York for 'baby showers'.
