Swallow your pride and get on the Eurostar It's only 20 minutes in the Chunnel. As I was the last poster before you wrote yours, I presume that this message was addressed to me. It was slightly tongue-in-cheek. I was thinking that it would be nice if your plan of a trip to England could be made true this Summer, before you get too old. I'm sure many Thunderboaters could even put you up for a few days at a time - that goes for us, I'm sure we could put up with you for a week You could always make a different kind of trip, and save the camper-car/van idea and get round to that when you can.

I think that I have to write again that I can't do anything until my much too serious problems with VNF (the equivalent of C&RT) have been sorted, and so far there hasn't been any progress. I also wrote that I wanted to be as much as possible an independent traveller, not having to rely on, or beg for accommodation, it was very kind of you to offer me the use of your boat, something I would never do, I would stop by to say hello, but never staying somewhere without the owner(s) being present. It is possible that there are more very kind Thunderboaters that would offer to put me up, but I think that you can't force them to do that, it looks a bit (very much) like my ex-wife, she would talk to people that would say in their conversation that they needed something done, like their boat towed, or car repaired or needed someone to drive them to god knows where, and she would say :"Don't worry, Peter can do that", without giving me a chance to say that I would, could or couldn't do that for whatever reason, as you can only decide for yourself what you want- or are prepared to do. I can make a different kind of trip only after my problems belong to the past, and would definitely not be able to enjoy myself if I left before, as it would be a constant worry, and the Eurostar wouldn't ever come into the picture. When the time is right, or at least less threatening, I will consider a possible visit, but not before. Btw. if you interested in buying a couple of boats in France, of which 1 won't go cheap, you'll solve my problems in no time (after a promp cash payment), and my travel plans can be realised immediately . Peter.

We only ended up with our boat because I bid on a bicycle on eBay and accidentally won it (because no-one else bid on it)!
