Somebody remind me but wasn't Archie the name of a strip cartoon character? Phil Capt. Archibald Haddock ? I never knew his first name. Had all of the Hergé books in the 80s and read them cover to cover over and over again sometimes ignoring the words (usually) but I never knew he was called Archibald Billions of bilious blistering barnacles in a thundering typhoon !! Very clever bit of translation went into those books.

Well, anything that lifts the spirit of this country from the misery of Brexit is fine by me.

my grandsons are named Leo and Archie - and before you ask, no, my daughter does not watch Emmerdale.
I have a feeling these names are Sloaney pony fashion labels for boys.

Short for Archibald I imagine.
How frightfully vulgar and working class. "Archibald" is the type of name I would expect my butler to have.

Short for Archibald I imagine. actually, no, it isn't. obviously it derived from Archibald in the olden days, but it is now a name in its own right. like Leo is not short for Leonard

I think it disgusting .... he should have a good solid Engelandish name like Aethelhelm or Aethelwolfsbreath or if they wanted something that could be shortened easily ...... Worfreds (after the Geordie King Worfreds Nowtbutcanny)

I think Archy's a great name.
It seems somewhat mean-spirited to do anything but wish the family all the very best.
A young couple having their first child seems a good news story to me.
