Not sure, it's a bit of a strange one. Apparently it happened at midnight last night so presumably it hung up on the cill and the crew didn't see it in the dark. You'd have to speculate that alcohol may have been involved.

Very sad, and also very stupid to see something like this. Maybe with a bit of luck there's not too much water damage inside as they kept the skylights closed Peter.

A particularly eerie photo.
Hoping no one was on board at least.

A particularly eerie photo. Hoping no one was on board at least. Rog There would have been more written about it if someone would have stayed on board. Traditions are getting lost, in the old days, a ships captain used to go down with his boat. Peter.

There are rumours on Twitter that it may have been being stolen, although I believe "a certain person" is at Middlewich at the moment.

how the hell did they manage that one ? and why is the lock full ? Why is the lock full is definately the question. Surely you'd drain the lock so you can pump the boat out?

This lock is in Brentford, London, if anyone is wondering. Nothing wrong with night boating. Why has it taken since Midnight to become aware of this? Posted 21 hours ago on Canalworld, so suggests sinking was before Midnight. www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?/topic/101126-brentford-possible-blockage/3 hours ago from PeterX: "Just saw a CRT notice saying it's cleared and the lock is open again."

Ah! I'm looking at my clock, and we're 2 hours ahead. May I suggest it must have been before 2330?
