Theresa May has said she will quit as Conservative leader on 7 June, paving the way for a contest to decide a new prime minister.
In an emotional statement in Downing Street Mrs May said she had "done my best" to honour the 2016 EU referendum result.
It would remain a matter of "deep regret" that she had been unable to deliver Brexit, she added.
But a new PM was "in the best interests of the country".

Yet they are still collecting their handsome salaries, with golden handshakes, bonuses, big fat pensions and directorships at companies they have supported with tax payers' money.

Politics as we know it is obsolete. We all have a limitless amount of data at our fingertips, which has never happened anywhere in the world at any time before the 21st century. Once the proletariat knows as much or more than the average MP, and does not feel hidebound by party whips and election promises, the House of Commons is outdated. We are living in what I would call a post-democratic age where the concept of democratic elections every few years is out of step with the speed at which events develop. Perhaps we need to return to an age where the leader of the country keeps his finger on the pulse and demands sufficient admiration and deference that we are prepared to follow him/her without question. Think Churchill, Napoleon, Caesar (but hope that we can spot a Hitler in good time). Who knows - even Trump may prove to have been a good thing when viewed from a historical aspect.

Politics as we know it is obsolete. We all have a limitless amount of data at our fingertips, which has never happened anywhere in the world at any time before the 21st century. Same goes for doctors to an extent. When I had pneumonia very badly a few years ago due to not being someone who visits doctors I did the research and ended up coming to the conclusion I had CAP (community acquired pneumonia) which is a bacterial type and could kill me if I did not take medicine. So I went to the doctor. He opened up his search engine and suggested I may have CAP and need penicillin. The only function the doctor had was to authorise the chemist to give me the medicine. The CAP was caused by a dentist bodging an extraction causing major blood loss. Dentists are something else I avoid if possible !

Please don't let it be be Boris! Its Mr Johnson. And he is a king twat with huge ambition. It's OK never to brush your hair (I never do) but to spend money on pretending not to brush your hair is naff. I saw him at Henley when he was still MP there doing a stand up at the Henley festival. It was impressive how he had the audience on remote control. He could do a "joke" which was not funny and they would laugh. They paid for a nice evening unlike me I was just out in my canoe so paid nothing. Knows what he's doing that one. Hopefully if he gets in someone will look for a grassy knoll.

He is a cretin* and I hope he ends up under one of his extremely ugly 'Boris buses'. As for Treeza, let's hope the old bag drowns in her tears, "blub, blub, blub, I did my best." Surely there must be some talent in the UK? Perhaps they could do no worse than look to Thunderboat for the next PM?
By the way, I have noticed, that no-one has enquired lately as to our Great leader's wellbeing with the carpet cleaning capers. One does hope all is going splendidly.
*although much cleverer than wot I am, as he's really raking the cash in, isn't he?
