Finally starting to brighten up a bit near Leamington Spa. May let the fire go out tonight.

Stove blazing away again this morning, but that's also wafting warm air towards the open water tank, helping the new coating to dry. Raining hard yet again. British Broadcasting Caliphate says rainy & cloudy up to 27th June (at least) for Penkridge.
We will soon be starting our journey East. Have to remember to replace weed hatch thingy before we get pushed back into the water!

Rain showers here, very good for the garden. Called by the boat, canal is on wier, plenty of water at the summit level too.

Still raining on the Cheshire plain, that's 10 days straight almost without a break. Continuous last night.
Probably just as well, there is a report of a hole in the canal bed near bridge 99 on the Shroppie and falling water level.

The newly built solar-assisted electric boat is still sitting on its trailer in my yard at home. Having missed the summer that we had for a couple of weeks in May because of family commitments I am now stuck waiting for a sunny patch on the long-range forecast - trouble is there aren't any for the foreseeable. Looks like June is a write-off, and probably July as well.

Fair Weather Boating Badger. Doesn't your solar-powered boat have a stove?
We brought 2 bags of kindling down from Grassington, and a boater here asked if we had any he could buy. So we sold him one. £2.75. Other people here have chimneys smoking away, all contributing to Global Warming. They care not a jot for future generations. Neither do I.

Fair Weather Boating Badger. absolutely. after a masochistic lifetime of extreme hardship conditions that would make bear grylls squirm I now enjoy my comforts - at home when the weather is 'orrible and in my silent cruiser when it suits.

If Bear Grylls was well hard he would have a boat, so we can conclude that as he has no boat he is a bit of a softie. Phil

Guess what? Raining again in Penkridge. Inside work it is, then: have put new tape around the water tank, and cleaned & greased the bolts, about to thread the lid down.
New cords for fenders need melting at each end.
I could have a go at fitting the new kitchen sink taps.
Maybe I will have a snooze and pretend I'm not here at all but driving my bus at home in the sunshine.

Ooh, burnt ends on your fender lines. Lazy. What about an end splice and an eye splice into the fender. Looks much more professional.
