Currently Labour is between a rock and a hard place, it’s traditional working class (union) voters in the midlands and north mainly want to quit the eu, but the London lovvies and lefties of Islington and similar areas want to remain. So labour needs both, so tries to please both by sitting on the fence. Give it a few more years and it will abandon the working class when there are enough votes from the London lefties. Did I mention we need a new non-party based political system with leaders who actually give a shit?.... I struggle to think of a senior politician that genuinely puts the country’s interests before their own. And they wonder why the electorate are losing interest in politics.

I’m afraid it’s a paradox really. Nice kind shy types don’t tend to have the confidence to lead. However arrogant selfish power crazed individuals do!

Trouble is, the power (and the money) for the brightest, ablest and most ambitious, has flowed away from politics and passed to the world of international finance. With the exception of a few who are driven by other goals, all that are left in politics are the second and third raters.

I think those with the biggest brains tend to use words to say one thing but do another. They also tend to use their extreme financial wealth to get what they want.

But people want a big Audi and a nice newly renovated kitchen, not a decent life-style for their voters. Am I the only one to notice how ghastly these new houses are being built beside the canals? Has anyone seen how much Ant & Dec (one a drink-driver who bought himself off the hook) are being paid?

Has anyone seen how much Ant & Dec (one a drink-driver who bought himself off the hook) are being paid? Over the years I’ve met a few what you would call upper class millionaires. There are some good people at all financial levels. There was one guy I knew who was born into a financially well off family. He never used his money to gain friendship, he was just a nice bloke. Then there was an MD of a company I used to work for who was found to be diverting funds allocated by the parent company for training into doing up his house. Money and words are just tools. Like any tool you can do good things or bad things with them...sometimes powerful things.

It comes as no real surprise as to where the high fliers go when you consider that Mark Carney earns about 5 times as much as Amber Rudd. So which job would you rather have ..... Minister of Finance ? ...... or Chairman of a Central Bank ? and that kind of differential goes across Europe including the EU Central Bank ......... Yet supporters of the glorious european empire seem to be oblivious, and think their politician run things ........ it would be funny if it wasn't so bloody tragic

Putting aside the Brexit bollox for a moment, does anyone think Farage would make a good PM? No. Why? (same question to everyone who thinks he wouldn’t). Actually I don’t even know if he’d want the job.

I wouldn't put it as strongly as Jenlyn but there is an element of truth in it. The biggest problem is that as far as I can see, there is nobody around that I think would make a good prime minister but I can see quite a few that would make even worse ones than Farage

The biggest problem is that as far as I can see, there is nobody around that I think would make a good prime minister but I can see quite a few that would make even worse ones than Farage I would vote for James cleverly. He comes across well, and seems to at least hold a bit of decency.
