Ali has popped home on a train, leaving me afloat in Gargrave. Her mums been taken Ill but seems to be on the mend. I’ve wandered into the town, popped in a pub for a pint. Sat alone in the garden I noticed a wishing well, thought what harm can wishing Ali’s mum a fast recovery, main aim to get Ali back here. Bent over the well to drop a coin in and make my wish, stood up and cracked my head on the roof that covers the well. Kind of confirms my suspicions regarding my mother in law.

I once made a wish that Robbie Williams would die because he is so annoying. I even wrote his name on a piece of paper and put it in the bottom drawer of my cabinet.

When I was 14 I used to wish I was five years older. I don't have that particular wish any more.

Nowadays I’m hoping to make at least 60. I’ll be 60 on my next Birthday and I can honestly say this has been the best decade of my life so far. I wake up every morning feeling glad that I am around for another day. I think if anyone is wishing their life away then something usually needs to change in their life. In my case the boat definitely saved me. It was a massive gamble at the time but looking back, it was the best step I ever took. I think the problem is that it’s sometimes difficult to see how bad things really are when you are stuck in a comfort bubble. Once you burst from that bubble and look back years later, it’s easier to see what the problems reallly were. Sorry, I’ve gone off on one again, but maybe it might help someone.

Hope Ali's back with you soon because her Mum's well and fit again.
Tough being left alone ... worried about your partner ... did a lot of that last year.

I'm 60 in September, and life is fine but I think it's definitely fair to say I did a hell of a lot more shagging in my 20s.

Can I borrow it for a bit? Phil Its a fairly standard 15 drawer steel filing cabinet. Nothing special and evidently not very effective as the geyser is still alive.

Similar but opposite for me. I love living on boats and having several and playing with them but I often think my life could hav been much better if I had never discovered boats. Its going to be difficult to get away from them but could make a massive positive difference to my general wellbeing. It does need to be done at some point but it will be sad to do it
