What a cracking and very tiring weekend we had. Myself and my brother who came down to give me a hand got the boat from Hyde in Piccadilly Manchester ( 8 hr trip ) to Boothstown ( 5hr trip ) where we have left it for a week ready for the next run to Parbold. Weather wasnt to bad, first day was a bit moist but that busy with the bloomin locks i didnt notice much. It was interesting to visit Manchester from a different view point. I have been driving for years all over Manchester and it look so different from the canal. Bit rough, well very rough in areas and all kinds of `things` going on, morso under the city near Canal Street. Some of the locks in Manchester were flooded really bad and taken a good time to empty them. We got he first 19 done from Hyde to Piccadilly in the first day then Sunday got from Piccadilly to Boothstown in good time. It didnt start of to well as when as when we did the prep of the Friday night the engine would not start at all and in the end found it to be air in the fuel lines, and what a pig it is to get out. In the end we came back Saturday with a primer bulb to see if we can help push fuel through which did the trick while cracking the injectors a few times. The engine lift pump has failed i think and not a bad thing as i would like to fit an electric lift/fuel pump. So good weekend to get half way under the circumstances to the Ribble Link which is tidal, we are booked in for the 14th September to get to the Lancaster canal, around a 3hr trip give or take. The 6hrs to the mooring near my other boat. This was a quick blast to see ho it goes full wack. I feel happy as it will cope with ease on the Ribble I chained up the leg to give better draught which all went well and level the leg more, i need to sort the pin out yet though as the leg kicks up when in reverse. A few very close bridges, infact my brother was sure the canopy would be ok up to keep us dry from he rain on the first day. That did not last long. And a few locks had a little seepage lol.

That's cool. Primer bulbs are usually associated with outboard motors but also a very handy thing to have on diesel units I have even fitted one to my Refleks heater supply line

Used them often when i ran WVO in my Shoggy. I will be fitting an electric lift pump though. lot easier and quicker but keep the bulb in aswell as second back up. Not looked but i think i can remove the original an blank it off.

As MM was unhappy wiht menot being around and on the dark side more i thought i would update what hasnt been done due to change of plan, or going back to original plan. It is coming home T`s suggestion aswell so who am i to argue. Boat mover siad he can get it in the garden and under the telephone wires.....stil cant wait to see if he doe sit. So plan is to throw few Viagra at it From 32` To 44` It will have a 12 foot bit stuck in the raer cabin where the port holes are giving a 18`6" rear cabin. then the rear cabin top raised by what ever is needed once done as there will be a loss for the stringers etc to beef yhe shell up. Thn the rer bulkhead moved forward to extend the rear deck by 2 or 3 `. All fun and games to come.

I saw a boat on the Thames once with a little dinghy which lifted up under the back deck and strapped in place. Really nice that was. Don't know what the make of the boat was but being a big dinghy fan it did appeal to me.

Looks like a big project, can't wait to see it happen. Likewise...I do love to see other peoples refurbs....creating beauty from something that estate agents would describe as 'having potential'

So maybe extend the rear deck more and have a hidden dinghy garage Cool good to see you onboard the Thunderboat again Wayne .... wasn't just MM missed you !!! Aw bless, thanks John Well the loon is back with the loony project I just noticed i didnt update this thread for a while, so pics and vids and wot not. This is when i helped the driver lifted it out at Wigan ( first time they moved a boat, surprised a big company in Lancashire, but at a rate of £65ph is dam good ) due to a bad vibration that started a few hours previous. You will see what was causing that. First for me that. That is the reason i didnt cruise it all the way up as i didnt want to damage the leg, the Ribble would of killedmaybe, though it does fly along with ease due it being MT. Then dropped back in at Garstang to do the 1/2 hour crusie to it mooring a few up from Khashoggi. Hull is in rather good conditon, found also why in the last short treck why water wasnt spitting out much. And the culprit that gave the slight vibration, bloody innr tube. had more trouble with fouling in the stretch from Boothstown to Wigan, 3 times had to clear the prop. And to home mooring, but as said its now coming home in the new year. I need to nock a wall down to get it in the fence off the bottom of the drive to keep it all enclosed, the garden is 32 foot as is the boat now, but the drive is 17 foot so this will give the room for the extension to 44 foot. Oh ay and i need to build a rack/frame to sit the boat on to keep it all square for when i come to cut it in half and stretch it. While the Hiab is here i will get him to lift out the engine to make it easy for me getting it out to fettle it. Just love that chugger nose it has. Admiral Faffer

Coincidentally a friend of mine recently bought a Norman 32 and is having it delivered by a hiab truck next week. It's a project as well but he's selling it due to it not being quite big enough. I did mention your lengthening project
