We’ve got in to Leeds Dock / Armoury, but only just, after another boat moved right up fenders touching. It all seems a bit daft that despite the huge size, there are only visitor moorings for 4 boats. The end of the pontoon is for the water taxi (even though it’s not signed) and the pontoons opposite are for permanent moorers only, even though they are half empty. There are also extensive pontoons, some with power bollards, the other side of the lift bridge and therefore inaccessible. What a waste of money! Granary wharf was pretty chokka too, although we could probably have got into the little side arm next to river lock. There was a bit of a furor over it all when the water taxi started up and nicked precious visitor mooring space. There was talk about making the ones through the lift bridge available but it's obviously not come to fruition. If you need some shopping there is a Tesco Express a short walk away. Robbo from here and CWDF - moors (or used to if he no longer does) across the way on the permanent moorings.

Mumtaz across the way is worth a visit for a decent meal too (But bear in mind it's five years since I was there so that comes with a proviso).
If you and Jeff want a cheap(er) date there's a Pizza hut sorry Pizza Express just 2 mins away too.

Rog We had the Marty Feldman sketches on TV in the Netherlands too in the late 60's, the bus trip one was called "Lightning Coach Tours". I liked this rather strange speciman. Peter.

Wandered around a bit but granary wharf really noisy and busy, ditto the city centre (Greek street). Well it is Friday night I suppose. We both hate noisy crowds but were saved by google maps which found us a lovely little Thai restaurant in a basement down a back street. Had a lovely low key but very tasty meal, with nice people and relaxing tinkly Thai music. Now back on the boat enjoying a final beer before bed......zzzzz

You are also now in hydrailic lock territory and you wont need your windlass till Bank Dole lock which puts you back onto the Aire. The VM's ar Beal and West Haddersly are pleasant. The deep lock at Lemonroyd replace the old lock now abandoned and kippax lock, hence its depth.

Armouries? Well to be honest, whilst impressive at first, one soon gets armoured-out. There is just too much stuff all on the same theme. Also I have been thinking that it is a museum dedicated to the glorification of the tools of murder and warfare. How long will it last before the snowflakes have it shut down for being politically incorrect and inciting violence?
But the rest of Leeds not bad, pretty buzzing and of course it is their Pride parade tomorrow. At one end of one of the main shopping street, the Christians were preaching and at the other end, the Muslims. Can’t wait til tomorrow when the Priders march past and shock and appall them both! At least it will give them something to agree about!
Markets and Corn exchange good because so many little independent shops - makes a blessed change from all the chain shops. Corn exchange is a remarkable building!
Overall, much better than expected despite a preponderance of manbuns. Even people with two manbuns on the same head!

Call in for a brew with our occasional lurker and fellow boater Debbie Figgie. I called Leeds office about a reasonable overstay once, to find myself speaking to her.
