So if you install an electric motor and as many solar panels as practical, would that mean that you could have a fixed diesel generator which is fed from the original fuel tank which, er, runs on red diesel...?
I wonder if the batteries fed by the generator would need to be isolated from the drive system?

I am quite sure the resourceful among us will find ways round many things ..... at least for a few years more ...... until I won't be worried one way or another

If you have a car with a reasonably sized boot, some old 20 litre containers and an agricultural suppliers ten minutes away you will still be able to run on red diesel.

I think red diesel will be available on waterways for the heating tank for a while yet.

And I'm sure that in some circles all the old ballads concerning smuggling will be back in vogue. But I was thinking more of a bona-fide solution, and was fondly imagining some thunderboaters would know summat about it!

I quite like gas oil. Burns really well in the stove.

Yep, and I get quite bored explaining that red diesel is also the same thing but just dyed. Especially on Facebook, in fact it might just be facebook annoying me. The latest spat was a bloke claimed that you can get 3 points by having an overweight car. I said you can't and he just said I should look it up. I've asked him for the code for points but someone else joined in saying i should google it. In fact by writing it down, i now believe facebook is full of idiots.

i now believe facebook is full of idiots. I agree totally, I joined facebook 2 years ago when I heard that there was a photo of Sabina at anchor on a fb group. I then found it was a closed group and I had to wait for someone to invite me. (the closed group is a barge and workboat on the Humber group) I also occasionally visit a couple of other related sites but as they are populated by mostly barge and tug men, pilots etc with a few amateurs and owners, there are very few plonkers. I have very little info on my homepage and only 4 friends which keeps the rubbish that appears fairly low ....... but Lord there ain't half a lot of crap on it generally (not that I bother looking at anything outside of the groups)
