We enjoy mooring at Fazeley and visiting Tamworth ... earthy but a nice enough little town. Have to admit, I've never been tempted to moor at Nuneaton. The nearest ever mooring was bridge 5 on the Ashby and walked in. Birthplace of Mary Ann Evans, so had to go. My guess is, it looks quite different now and she'd not recognise the town ... apart from Wetherspoons of course Rog

Mary Ann Evans? Don't forget Larry Grayson!!!
Can't help envisaging the Mill on the Floss outlet by that culvert near the pipe bridge where I saw the three piece suite lined up ready for launching β¦.

e.t.a. - you gave George her real name before I got there!!!

I've just guzzled strawberries with banana and yoghurt ... very nice but too healthy to be a proper pudding.

ETA We heard a profile of Larry Grayson (Billy White) on radio some time ago ... didn't realise he was from Nuneaton until then ... and he continued to live there even when at the peak of his success.

Our Clarry(calorifier) sprang a leak a few years ago not long after we'd set off for the summer. & Boot Hill Wharf Nuneaton was the first place which could sort us out.I must admit,I wasn't happy about mooring there...but we survived & they did a great job, really helpful. It would never have been my choice of mooring I must be honest!
