Our Clarry(calorifier) sprang a leak a few years ago not long after we'd set off for the summer. & Boot Hill Wharf Nuneaton was the first place which could sort us out.I must admit,I wasn't happy about mooring there...but we survived & they did a great job, really helpful. It would never have been my choice of mooring I must be honest! We were warned by all the local boaters to never moor in Nuneaton - boot wharf has a good rep though!

You waffle away! Makes me feel less dissingenuous for moaning about Nuneaton instead of raving about nice stuff - like the donut I did @ Tixall wide! ๐ Doing a doughnut at Tixall Wide is a law you must obey!๐ I'm not sure CWDF readers will approve Last time we came by Boot Wharf we couldn't get over how close the new housing is to the yard and the moorings. Can't be too long before residents are complaining about noisy, smelly engines, smokey fires, and the row from the boat yard. Totally changed the outlook of the yard and moorings. Rog

I've moored there a few times, it's a natural place to stop being about a day's cruise from my mooring. I've never had a problem there. There were a few Polish lads getting pissed on Perla on the steps by Jewsons last time I stopped there but we exchanged the pleasantries of the day and they didn't give me any grief- if anything I got the impression that they would have warded off any ne'er-do-wells who attempted to hassle me.

Came past your mooring yesterday afternoon but you were not there, busy dodging sofas I guess up the cut a bit stopped at the lime kilns last night lovely pint or two of flaming meg, shame about the food, twice Iโve stopped there now to eat and been disappointed both times... will keep stopping for the ale though!

I have a mate who used to do a local radio station. He was once sent to interview Larry Grayson at his home. My mate was then in his late teens. Larry G answered his door in a dressing gown and invited my mate inside.. he ran off. We live in Nuneaton now, our garden borders the house that Larry lived in. The long shoot hotel, which is between Nuneaton and Hinckley was used for filming some of the great soap Crossroads. Nuneaton is improving as a town, lots of new homes being built. Lots of new industry springing up. Our local MP cares about the canals, I will send the OP to him. Main problem I see is that like many towns, the canal runs through the poorer parts. I wasnโt born and bred in Nuneaton but itโs not all bad.

Now if I got on a train with 6 donuts, and got off still with 6 donuts, where would I be? Still up your own arsehole?

Tis a pub that divides opinion. Some in Nuneaton sweat by it, some at it...
