A friend broke down today ... actually he noticed his alternator warning light had come on and on lifting the boards realised the domestic alternator had fallen off ! A bolt had sheared so he needed assistance to clear out and replace the bolt before reassembling. He rang RCR as he's a retainer member, but then rang me. I suggested that rather than pay £50 for a call out, and then possibly be told they can't help as it's NOT the alternator for the starter battery, why not ring Streethay Wharf and see if they can help. He did and they could He cancelled his RCR call out and limped to Streethay. They sorted him out within a couple of hours, and he was cruising again all fixed. Sometimes you have to just pay up. Sorry you had a problem metanoia, but at least you're rolling again. Rog

He cancelled his RCR call out and limped to Streethay. Rog If it had been me, I would have advised taking the boat to Streethay rather than walking along the towpath with his gammy leg.

Thanks, Rog.
I knew enough to work out my problem was fuel starvation - just couldn't determine exactly why! I do have RCR cover through my insurance but …. think we resolved the issue and came to a compromise solution for the same sort of money....
Anyway - it's GREAT to be on the move again - nothing sweeter than the sound of that engine running again today!!
Smile while the sun is shining! Happy cruising.

I blame the distraction of the rivets.
