They are hardly going to shoot a British Holiday maker who was trying to leave. That's unfortunate. I wonder if they might consider making an exception ? For you, I'm pretty sure they would.

Yes but I would not be stupid enough to get into negative interaction with someone with a gun.

Besides I am not sure where the notion that the guys preventing people leaving were armed has come from. If they were actually armed then I suspect it was as an anti terrorism measure, not to pick off disgruntled holiday makers.

On 26 June 2015, a mass shooting occurred at the tourist resort at Port El Kantaoui, about 10 kilometres north of the city of Sousse, Tunisia. Thirty-eight people, 30 of whom were British, were killed when a gunman, Seifeddine Rezgui, attacked a hotel. It was the deadliest non-state attack in the history of modern Tunisia, with more fatalities than the 22 killed in the Bardo National Museum attack three months before.

I suspect it was as an anti terrorism measure Anti terrorism measures in Tunisia should be aimed at Tunisians and not British holiday makers, although I will concede many Brit 'tourists' could do with a bullet between the eyes.
