The elsan was closed off several months ago as I traveled north, even then the stoppage notice was old and the growth around the fence indicated that it wasn't something just put up.
Are you calling Matthew Symonds a liar? He said "temporary". Actually I've just discovered he is either lying or at best mis-informed.
Dated 28/03/2019...!

So it's not open yet? After 6 months? Haven't we had this discussion before - what obligation does CRT have to provide any services at all, such as elsan disposal holes, water points, showers, and rubbish bins?

What obligation does CRT have in relation to telling the truth/getting facts correct would be a better starting point!

There is a classic channel 4 news interview with him from about three four years ago, where almost everything he says is incorrect.

I suppose its the post truth era that we live in. PR is cheaper than action. Never admit to anything being wrong or you get the sack. Never admit any policy harms anyone or again, you get the sack. Don't be a whistle blower, you'll never work again. And on and on... Maybe I'm just cynical.

Mate of mine thought it would be a good idea to get a job as a postman.
He was really looking forward to it.
First day at work he got the sack.

Thank you for taking the time to give Richard your feedback about the elsan facility at Fosse Locks being closed by the Trust. The closure of the elsan at Fosse Wharf is temporary and commenced in June. The decision was made to close the facility because, following a site visit, it became apparent that our instructed methods for waste removal at the site were compromised by poor access. There is a site meeting with the landowner on Wednesday this week to discuss alternative access and so we hope to be able to re-open the facility quickly. I am sorry that you didn’t receive any advance warning of the closure. Unfortunately, although the Trust placed physical notices in the area to inform customers of the closure we did not update the notice online using our stoppage and notice system. This has been rectified and customers will be informed proactively through the notice system. The current notice is searchable for those intending to visit the area (https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/notices/16198-fosse-way-csf). I understand your concern over the closure of some of the other local facilities and I can assure you that any decision to close boater facilities is not taken lightly. There are usually a number of deciding factors at play, which can be anything from access difficulties because of land ownership, changes in building regulations for the type of waste system being used or in some instances the cost of upgrading the site may be prohibitive. Where any facilities are lost we consider the impact on boaters and will do our best to install new facilities to compensate for the loss wherever possible. I’m also sorry to hear about the difficulty you experienced using the website to inform us of your concerns. I’d like to look into why this may have been and wondered if you could let me know whether it was this form that you had tried to complete? If you could let me know when (date/time) you tried to use it, I’ll find out what the reason may have been. Best wishes
Matthew

National Boating Manager (Leisure)
Above is a copy of the e mail I received.
I know the elsan was fully operative when we left Warwick in January, and on our return in September we learnt (from notices posted on balance beams approaching the area) it was not.
I believe I know the landowner referred to, so will be monitoring what's happened as far as possible from home.
I will of course let everyone know how it goes.

Its like with a lot of issues unless people are nagged nowt gets done..gets pushed down the list until its so far down it never gets any attention.. Other stuff comes in and thats then fresh in minds. Perhaps once reported ..whatever it is people should get into the habit of sending reminders on a fortnightly basis asking for updates and projected time until action...
Just a thought...

You're right patty. I've just fizzed off another e mail requesting any update following the meeting as I do not want the issue forgotten under the weight of other business. We shall see Rog
