BBC News - Thunberg: 'If you choose to fail us we will never forgive you' www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-49795221I cant explain why but she really annoys me. Clearly passionate but she almost snarls when she speaks here. And the sycophantic nodding from those on the stage with her is pathetic.

"In August 2019, Thunberg sailed across the Atlantic Ocean from Plymouth, UK, to New York, US, in a 60 ft racing yacht equipped with solar panels and underwater turbines. The trip was announced as a carbon-neutral transatlantic crossing serving as a demonstration of Thunberg's declared beliefs of the importance of reducing emissions.
The voyage lasted 15 days, from 14 to 28 August 2019. While in the Americas, Thunberg attended the UN Climate Action Summit in New York City and the COP 25 Climate Change Conference in Santiago, Chile.[19][20]"
I wonder how she got from New York to Santiago. Not in an aeroplane, surely?

I would love to have heard somebody from that audience heckle her with some counter argument but nobody has the balls to do it. It would be akin to heresy. As for the climate strike malarky, Do you want to go to school today or bunk off and go on a march? No brainer really.

I like the way the media describe her as "autistic" when what they really mean is "Shrill, bad-tempered, shouty control freak who is destined to make some poor bloke's life a misery".

Labelling her as 'autistic' is a great vote winner. God forbid anybody who openly disagrees with her at a conference. They would be taken out the back door and shot.

I think it's a bit more complicated than it seems.
She's angry with all the old dodderers at the summit but is so cocksure (can a woman be cocksure?) with her position, having read all the positive press from social liberals, she hasn't considered that those she's accusing of destroying the world were oblivious to their actions until very recently.
I think she fails to understand that young people, yes, just like her, have lifestyle expectations well beyond those the old dodderers had at her age.
I suspect her anger about her childhood being denied to her might have something to do with the probability that very few local chaps want to bone her. I mean, why would you want to go anywhere near her? Unless it was for a bet of course.

It is difficult..I think she has opened eyes but as with all passionate do gooders its can be a case of do as I say not as I do.. They don't stop/pause to consider their own actions..in her case the use of a plane to fly back people who made the 'eco' transatlantic' crossing...its all very well making a gesture but not if subsequent actions wipe out the positivity. But then how else do they open eyes?...the world in general is very good at doing what it wants without considering impact on others. I do agree that if the young today are truly passionate about the need to save our world they should examine their own actions and reduce 'must have latest technology' I did not know when I was young the dangers of plastic, carbon footprint etc but now that I'm aware I am making the effort..but not because I've been influenced by shouting people or strikes or demonstrations but because I have researched and read and formed my own conclusions. I do not watch this attention seeking crowd..to-day climate change..tomorrow another band wagon will play a tune.

She has one of those faces I want to slap... really hard !😡 Personally,I think she is a 'puppet' with her parents operating the strings. She needs to get back to her education where she can learn to be a useful member of society, rather than telling others how to live. *In case you hadn't guessed,I'm not a fan.😄

Much to my good wife’s annoyance I have decided to stop listening to them all.

Very irritating character. She's from a wealthy family. Fair enough but I wonder where they store their wealth. Presumably they will be carefully avoiding investment vehicles which make huge profits from natural resources and general destruction of the environment etc.
I would guess the money is probably earning profits from things like organic stinging nettle farms and bird sanctuaries.

I find it hard to believe that so many of you feel the need to criticise the messenger.
So many folk conveniently refuse to admit that the message is real - how else should the younger generation express their justifiable extreme anger that the world is spiralling into disaster?
Even if climate change is not entirely man-made, the burning of the rain forest and the pollution of the sea with micro-plastics is, and it will lead to large-scale extinction.
If her antics upset the establishment to the point where she is branded autistic, shrill and hysterical, then so be it - any publicity is good publicity - as long as the message is heard and heeded by the more intelligent leaders of the world.
