I don't have an ecofan because they don't work. That's a bit like saying your engine doesn't work, but what actually happens is that the water passing under your boat turns the propeller which in turn makes the driveshaft revolve which makes the valves and the piston in the engine move up and down. do you mean ...... gasp ! (dawning look of horror) it doesn't work like that !!!

Why mess about with anthracite when you can buy petcoke? It won't slumber down like most ovoids but when mixed with them you can keep a fire in overnight. It burns very clean, it's easier to light than anthracite and at £7.75 for 20KG bag from the fuel boat, is cheaper too. Just don't use it on its own, put it on top of ovoids then at night, ovoids on top of the petcoke.

If you bank up anthracite enough it'll turn down and stay in for 12 hours easily. Compared to smokeless stuff you need to change your habit from chucking a few ovals on every few hours to building it right up every 8-12 hours... in my experience.

That's a common impression but suggest you try a bag sometime. It burns with no smoke at all, quite unlike so called smokeless ovoids.

Perhaps andrew generates a lot of wind, that's what makes his go round?

The stuff I use gives off less fumes than anything else I've ever tried. If there's a similar fuel it's anthracite but this is more difficult to light, and more difficult to keep in.
