I'm not sure what the point of the survey is, but while living first in a van and now on a boat I've found getting an appointment easier and quicker than when I was in a house even since I registered at the local practice. I've also had planned operations 3 times with no problem and good treatment.
Is someone looking for trouble where there isn't any? I'd say where rather than how you live is the more important factor.

Maybe youve been lucky, even when ive been registered with a gp, ive had problems acessing services at other practices. Even when i went to move registration to the practice im at now, i had to remind the receptionist that i had a right to access medical services even though i live on a boat and cant provide her with the address she wanted. Its amazing her first reaction was no go away, but when i reminded her of the change in regulation recently she changed her tune.

Son had real problems last year..he works as free lance diver when he's not trekking, uses me to get his post but very unwell last winter. Surgeries refused to see him and when he finally managed to get a GP to review he had Whooping Cough and needed long term antibiotics to sort...He'd had the vaccine as a child but seemingly you can still get it.

Maybe it's because there are a lot of GP happy old folk living on boats around here, they were more than happy for my address being the marina. Before that I could get same day apppointments as an itinerant, now I have to wait like any land dweller.

I suspect the same goes for land dwellers - where the service is poor, it's poor for everyone. Here, Virgin health care run a health centre that I'd have to use to be seen on a Saturday, but also I'm forced to use it for blood test extraction. It's a nightmare - they triage then rank you - for something considered minor you can sit there literally all day and not even be seen. No wonder people give it a wide berth and hit A&E.

No issues at my last GP, turn up at 0730 join the queue at 0800 get given an appointment for later that day. If you CBA to get out of bed in the morning then you can phone after 0830 but you will be behind those that bothered.

What about those that were not able to get out of bed to join the queue at 07:30.......
If you are well enough to get up so early and walk/hobble to the GP I prescribe a bit more sleep would do wonders for you!

I didn't realise you were on the Nene, pity you could have joined us for a beer sometime Seriously I was merely pointing out that not all GP have a bad system, nothing to do with your circumstances.

I tried the early doors for an apt at my last GP but I was not deemed to be a deaths door..the criteria for same day apt there.. At my present GP if u r prepared to see any GP normally same day but I have learnt that the one u can get an apt for is not the one I want to see...we had a mutual instant unease towards each other, not helped by the fact he'd moved from my last surgery where we'd had disagreements based on him saying a load of b....x concerning a subject he pontificated about that i disagreed with. Anyway I've selected a lovely GP but have to wait a week to see her. I suspect if I'm really ill I'll have to see t'other one...
