FWIW, I don't believe in any form of after life... even less so since my mum died - conversely however, I AM talking to her as I wander down the towpath when I feel the need "just in case" there is something... - SHE believed she'd go on to a better place and be able to keep a caring eye on those left behind - I've given her numerous chances to send me some kind of sign - alas, nothing has come ... ergo, I've gone from 'hoping' to 'doubting'...
I know for sure if there was anyway of mum giving me any kind of comfort from the "other side of whatever" she'd have moved heaven and earth to do so - silence speaks volumes !

Yup any belief in afterlife is just wishful thinking and due to an overdeveloped sense of self importance in the vastness and complexity of the universe.

So I suggest you make the most of me while I’m still around.

It’s something that no one can ever be sure about. I have no sense of self importance. I don’t worry about death, I don’t sit thinking wishful thoughts. I just believe that there’s more to the universe than we know.

I just believe that there’s more to the universe than we know. Oh definitely more to the universe than we know. And I don’t rule out the existence of ghosts, clairvoyance /premonitions etc. I have had my own personal experiences of those. But I don’t think that indicates the existence of an afterlife and I do think folk who think they are somehow fundamentally different from animals (in that they have an afterlife whereas animals don’t) are deluded.

The whole idea of an afterlife is just propaganda promulgated by the Church and endorsed by Government- put up uncomplainingly with suffering and want in this life and you will be rewarded in the next.
Jam tomorrow.

I think if humans were fundamentally different to animals we would have worked out how to avoid defacating by now.
