Our boat has a freestanding folding table with 4 chairs that fold away and sit inside the table when not in use. We are considering discarding this table and going for a table that will sit on Fiamma type legs, the ones that locate on fixing fixed into the boat floor. The only problem I have with this is that I’m not keen on drilling holes in the floor. Anyone have other suggestions? Is this a good way to go? Are they easy fixings to fit?

Desmo table legs as sold in chandlers and caravan places are pretty easy to fit. There are also wall hung table support brackets availabe. You could hinge a table top to the wall with a folding leg mounted underneath to support the end of the table.

You can get raised type pedestal bases that simply screw to the floor. But these I guess would create a trip hazard. eg www.sheridanmarine.com/product/raised-table-pedestal-base

You could hinge a table top to the wall with a folding leg mounted underneath to support the end of the table. Exactly this was one of my projects over the summer. I built it in 2 halves though. The half that attaches to the wall has 2 legs to support it. The other half hinges to this, has a single leg which is hinged in the middle so the leg doesn't hit the wall when you hinge it down. My tv sits on top of the this, against the wall. I built 2 slim cupboards one either side of the t.v. to enclose it. If I'm eating or having a brew I hinge the table up. Watching t.v. it's hinged down. It's transformed the room, it feels a lot bigger in here now.

Thanks for suggestions all. The wall hinges type won’t work for our layout. I have looked at the folding tripod legs, may go that way. Already have the table top, so would just need legs and fittings.

Decided in the end to go for these legs. Fold up easily and very slimline. Look decent and lovely light aluminium as well. Going to attach to wooden table this afternoon. Have also fitted a little folding, wall hinged table. Will use this for just the two of us and the larger table when entertaining.

Have finally fixed table top to its new folding legs. I’ve used a cheap and cheerful top, it’s very light and coupled to the aluminium legs it folds up and tucks away out of sight easily. Don’t think it weighs more than ten kilograms( that’ll be 22lbs Roger). It’s not lovely to look at but we only use it half a dozen times a year.
