The charging cycle for gels and LifePo4s isnt much different? I dont think putting a LifePo4 onto a gel charger will result in knackered battery? Of course thats on my Midnite controller other chargers might be different It’s down to the float voltage really. The gel batteries chargers give 14.4v then go to float at 13.8v float once the current has dropped right off. The glider batteries are put on charge at the end of a day’s flying and left until the next day’s flying, which is often a week later (Sunday to next Saturday). Or a further week if the weather happens to be bad. In winter it can be several weeks. Not ideal for LiFePO4s. The Li chargers I got from eBay give 14.4v but when the current drops right off, they simply cut off. No float charge. I think this is better for Lis. Having bought 2 of these 7.5 Li batteries, I got a free Optimate charger with them. Could have used that as it floats at 13.6v but the special LI chargers were only £30. 13.6 on float is good but I wouldnt want to leave them on it without being used as you say, it might shorten their life, Ideally best would be to leave them half charged if its going to be 7 weeks between use, but its down to having them ready to use if you get the weather?

The other good thing about the Li chargers I got is that they chuck out about 3A, whereas the other ones are only 600mA. Thus it would be feasible to put the batteries on charge on arrival at the club and have them charged by the time we had got everything out and ready to fly. However that is too complicated! In reality they will get perhaps 100 - 150 partial cycles a year, so should last a long time even if not stored optimally.

I enjoyed Christmas pudding with extra thick cream last night - steamed slowly on top of the fire all afternoon while torrential rain hammered down on the roof. I love autumn. met x

Yes. Two seperate faults. The fridge has an auto setting that automatically switches between 12v when towing, 240v mains then gas (if for any reason the mains fails) in that order. It wouldn't go onto auto so it had to be switched between sources manually. They replaced the PCB, fixed under warranty. The regulator was showing output from the panel but then showing no output to the battery. Fixed under warranty. All is well in the world, going to the Dales for a week on Saturday. Sorry I'm not interested. Brain dead moron.

Just got in from work to discover the RSPB have sent us our renewed membership cards ... only Jane's was only a 'Visitors Reserve Pass' not a membership card. We've been Joint Members of the RSPB for over thirty years, pay by direct debit, and every year we each get a membership card in our own name ... until this year. Phoned up and was told my a young lady that Jane has NEVER been a member ! When I pointed out her error, the lady said the 'computer records' say no ! Unbelievable ... we must be delusional ... invented over thirty years of visiting RSPB sites and using our fictional cards to get in. What is even more annoying ... no additional charge for joint membership so a card for Jane is in the post now. I thought computers were supposed to make record keeping easier. Anyway I have very much enjoyed reading your mundane posts ... all have a fascination and afford a peep into others routines. I must admit however, I never expected that Telemachus would be getting his puppies out on video Rog

I still have not finished the prototype fast-freeze compressed air shitgun but as I now have a big air horn needing an air supply I might get on with it. Watch this space. I look forward to seeing this completed, although i think the power consumption to fast freeze might be a limiting factor. As i wouldnt want to start a generator every time i want to use the loo. I think the freezing could be accomplished by using engine generated electricity to compress and store some sort of gas. Thinking it through further freezing may not be required if the material could be packed into boxes or tubes. empty baked bean tins. With some sort of proprietary lidding machine to secure the material and avoid spillages this might actually form quite a nice mortar projectile without the need for freezing.

You really are a 24 carat dickhead are you not Andrew. I could excuse you if you carried some sort of 'condition' or 'syndrome' but I think its just because you are an arse, pure and simple.

I do actually have a syndrome as it happens. It's on my doctor's notes.
Anyway I have decided not to respond to you.

I thought it was a good idea too. Does this 'syndrome' make you unable to adhere to someting for longer than 30 secs.?
