Just having a think about where to go next year.
I'm sort of thinking maybe Peterborough and then a few of the waterways after that, to Cambridge maybe. It all looks possible on the map but how much is do-able in real life?

It all looks possible on the map but how much is do-able in real life? You have around 100 navigable miles on the Middle Levels, 125 on the Great Ouse and Tributaries, 14.5 miles on the Cam and 88 miles on the Nene. Would it be me I'd get along the Nene as soon as the Winter stoppage programme lifts around March, do the Middle Levels before the weed gets going in the Spring then slob about on the Great Ouse for the summer.

I did Grand Union to St Neots and Cambridge and back that was about 20 years ago. 55fr narrow boat. I imagine it's still doable. Great Ouse was quite pleasant. Nene less pleasant but still a nice river given good conditions. I think @gazza and NigelMoore would know about the current situation. Worst bit for me was the Middle level which at the time was very very weedy but we did get through it.

As for 2020 plans I am considering a little business venture on the new trawler. Calais-Deal-Calais-Deal-Calais etc
One way paying guests on stern deck. Doors battened down engine room locked.

That would be a fine humanitarian effort. I'm sure you'd receive warm congratulations from many socialist types.

I'd just be after the cash to be honest.
Got to be better than an inflatable.

The current situation is far too many sewer tubes make their way over here every summer..... π If you are referring to the Middle Levels bill and licencing it isn't finished yet. There was talk of reciprocals with the EA and possibly C&RT gold licence - we shall see.

With my current fleet the only boat I can get there with going inland is the Fairline 19! It would have to be a sea trip to get there with the trawler !

The revised deadline for commenting on the new byelaws draft is now 18th November. Reciprocal arrangements for the recognition of 'foreign' registrations is covered in s.6 of the 2018 Act; that provides only that the MLC MAY come to such arrangements of course. Draft byelaw 5(i) covers the eventuality.

I'd just be after the cash to be honest. Got to be better than an inflatable. Only 1 leg of the trip will generate the folding, you need a return cargo as well so both legs of each trip generate the cash

Hmm. This could be quite a thorny issue.

Hmm. This could be quite a thorny issue. After brexit Iβm sure there will be lots of things worth smuggling into the eu. Itβs probably going to one the UKβs major businesses. Anyway whatβs all this talk of βworkβ about? Are you turning over a new leaf?
