It is clear therefore, that critiques focusing on the individual cannot solve the crisis as it confronts us. What is required is a systemic approach." I can't see any flaw in the above statement. Neither can I. The ideal solution would be a huge reduction in population globally but this is contrary to the requirements of a capitalist economic system and I can't exactly picture Extinction Rebellion supporters queueing up to be sterilised. As things stand, Extinction Rebellion supporters are no different to anyone else. A significant amount of them will drive to work in their cars in order to save money to have holidays in foreign countries to which they will travel by aeroplane. They just think that nobody else should do this. I'm sure you'll hate me for saying this, but de-population by global pandemic is a popular desire of the neo-right (no prizes for guessing who they imagine doing the dying). It is sort of ironic that you use the rhetoric of left-wing politics in the same sentence. Interestingly, the Black Death resulted in a re-organisation of social economics that favoured the majority, otherwise known as 'the poor'. But any such event in the modern world would most-likely be the catalyst for global war. A massive reduction in the population is not contrary to capitalist economics, but very likely its inevitable final product, in much the same way boom-and-bust is a required function of the stock-market. Here's theyoutube film where I transcribed the quote from. Please note it is has fuck-all to do with Extinction Rebellion. Will anybody wishing to slag off Extinction Rebellion (and you are most welcome) please do so on the thread titled 'Extinction Rebellion'.

'Mad Max' is a great film, a post-apocalyptic wasteland where the inhabitants cling to the remnants of the former civilisation. The unrelenting nihilism of Mad Max was way ahead of the curve, but chimed so brilliantly with the 'no future' ideology of punk. I find the obvious newness of all the Kawa Z1000s, which were donated free of charge by the factory, to be amusing.

"In a future where all flora is extinct on Earth, an astronaut is given orders to destroy the last of Earth's plant life being kept in a greenhouse on board a spacecraft." 'Silent Running' is a classic, featuring one of the better offerings from Joan Baez as its soundtrack. It was shot in the decommissioned shell of an aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Valley Forge. Considering the quality of other science-fictions of the day, 'Silent Running' was visionary, if a tad sentimental.

Extinction Rebellion = Tax Fraud?! I thought the video below well worth watching. Did you read my comment concerning the need to understand the mindset of the writer? Yes, I did. You seem concerned that someone might eat you.In May 2019, Facebook barred Watson from using its Facebook and Instagram services." Oh, no! What worse fate than being banned by Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook!Mr Watson has many subscribers to his youtube channel. I expect he's making a nice pile from that. Of course, he isn't cynical, he's an impassioned and sincere prophet of the truth. You get pennies from YouTube likes/subscribers, I very much doubt he's in the same league as Extinction Rebellion professional protesters being paid £400/week to annoy people trying to get to work so they can pay their rent and clothe their kids. I watch and make my own mind up - what I do see is lots of wealthy kids just having a laugh; they're not interested in 'The Environment' at all. Off they go home in their Porsches. Leaving their litter behind, of course!

I'm intrigued. Make with the details! Ali’s attraction? That would be Mel Gibson. I should have guessed. I once took a girl to the cinema and what to watch was only decided on when we got there. The deciding factor was Keanu Reeves.

There's a documentary film made by the American comedian Rich Hall called 'California Stars'. All of Rich's films are very watchable, there are half a dozen or so about various aspects of American culture. But for those of you without unlimited broadband... It has a segment where Rich interviews some descendants of the economic migrants of the great dust-bowl featured in Steinbeck's novel 'The Grapes of Wrath'. I am astounded to realise how apropos the novel is, but the interview is fascinating. The people depicted hated the novel, hated Steinbeck, and found their portrayal as victims to be risible. Also I have recently found an online album of photographs from the time, so here's a link for your viewing pleasure. Its a few megs, so I posted a few.
