I have a Kipor generator I use for battery charging from around this time of the year, now that solar is depleted.
It starts OK but 3 or 4 times now it's cut out for no apparent reason. The first time was after running for around an hour. Started up straight away after that but cut out after a further 10 minutes. Similar the next time I used it.
I'm no expert on engines but might something like this point to water in the fuel, or any other ideas?
Cheers.

New fuel syphoned from the tank of my motorbike, bought the fuel 2 days ago. I should add it's not the low oil switch.

No completely emptied of fuel, including the carb, before I put it away in March.

Do you use a funnel with a filter to fill the genny??
The carbs in small engined units like genny's (and lawn mowers) do seem particularly susceptible to particulate contamination.

Tank vent blocked?

my old one used to get blocked on the vent (in the fuel cap) the spring didn't "spring" when opened and the solution was just to loosen the cap = TAKING care not to knock the thing over in the meantime.

Spark plug? Fuel filter? Fuel 'needle hole' needs cleaning/widening?

Spark plug? Fuel filter? Fuel 'needle hole' needs cleaning/widening? Fuel 'needle hole'? Perhaps you mean the main jet? needs widening??? You have no fucking idea what you are talking about. As usual.

Attempted a quick fix by removing the drain plug at the bottom of the carb and releasing some fuel into a small glass. No water apparent but there were a few bits and pieces of muck. Ran it for an hour and a half last night, no problems. I reckon those bits of muck might have been moving around in there as fuel was drawn in and blocking the jet, from time to time. Does that sound plausible?
