the idea is twofold....... My cruising range is limited by the height of Heck bridge (CRT say no bigger than 3.6 metres Sabina is close to 3.9) If I can get under that my cruising range is vastly increased Secondly the problem with the trim at the moment is that in any sort of head sea or swell Sabina's bow comes out of the water and she slams badly. An extra depth there should make a big difference. I have always been limited for draft at my old mooring at Benfleet so she has always been a bit light. Now the decision has been made not to return it's time to start adding. It has been a bit slow getting some as suitable material is bloody expensive. It has to be steel or iron purely to get the weight into the comparitively small volume available. This has appeared at the most attractive price I have found over the last year or so (about £140 per ton cheaper than the best alternative) Not too mention it will lower "G" and increase "GM"😉 metacentric height calculations have always been difficult for a bear with a small brain
