'Arry update, well I bought him a bigger box and some special bedding because he is growing. He now weighs 278gms, so he has put on another 40gms in a week and is markedly bigger in stature . He is also becoming more amenable to being handled though I try to keep it to the minimum so he doesn't become attached, I have been told I will need to provide him with a home and food when he is released in the spring, (thanks for the advice Chris) Phil

Well 'arry has survived another week and now weighs in at a considerable 337gms, he is getting bigger proportionally to his age, he is well muscled too. At the rate he is growing I should think about letting him go once he reaches survival weight but... I have grown attached to him so will keep him until Spring. Phil

Do people have pet hedgehogs? Seriously. You could take him to the shops. it must be possible to get hedgehog slings. phil70 would you consider selling him rather than releasing him onto the motorway system ? I can raise the cash if necessary. Not particularly worried about the cost as I know these are quite valuable. I'm sure we can come to an arrangement. DHL for the shipping please.

I understand that people do have pet hedgehogs, pygmy African ones which are very light in colour and yes you can get harnesses for them. I would not countenance selling him because I would be afraid he might be......... eaten! Phil

Like above. If someone has a large garden you could release them there.
Build a nice hedgehog house and you never know he might stay.
Of course if they leave some of it's favourite food out at night Harry might hang around.
They are known to keep revisiting gardens.

We would often leave the back door open late on warm summer nights and on many an evening we would hear strange snuffling noises coming from the kitchen - only to discover a hedgehog eating from the cat bowls. Sadly, after many weeks our visitor disappeared.... but one balmy evening we heard a very familiar sound - and to my delight and amazement - Mrs Tiggy had returned, together with her baby hoglet, obviously showing him where to get the best pickings. So very sweet. Good luck Harry! Good on you Flappy! met x

One of my aunts lives in (very) rural Norfolk. As kids my sisters and I used to stay with her regularly in her very small cottage. The one room downstairs one room upstairs type.
There were hedgehogs about when we used to go there in the 80s.
I don't visit that often these days but I am going there next week so I will enquire about the hedgehog situation. Maybe there are still some around.

Hempstead by Holt.
Lovely place. She bought it in the sixties for 4 grand.
Lots of good memories from there. All the beaches Holkham, Cley, Blakeney, Wells next the Sea, Cromer. She has always been a spinster no children of her own so managed to get the three of us in the back of her vw beetle and do good adventures.
I'm blessed to have her as a relative.
