The word on the MI6 street is that it was all slightly gory. I see your Mi6 pals have been busy removing all identifying marks from the boat picture to prevent Inspector Blake inspecting the licencing details!
On the ball your guys as always!

TWAT .......................... So why are the Police 'not yet in a position to identify them'? Can't or don't want to? Do you know more about this, then? Or was it another couple of politicians found with apples in their mouths? Maybe they are not ready to identify them to the media but they know who they are. Like Patty said, the death message may still need delivering.

Perhaps - but it is unclear this "not yet in a position to identify them". You'd think sitting in the centre of York, a lot of people would have walked past their boat and had an idea as to whom they were. There are often threads/comments/warnings from all sources about the danger of poisoning by Carbon Monoxide (CO), and I see on Canalworld some immediately brought this possibility to the fore. There seems to be no latest news so I am regarding this all as slightly suspicious. By the way, it was TB member duncan who brought this thread up - will you be calling him 'sad' too?

It was a conservative peer and his gayman friend. They don't want to release details as it might swing tomorrows election.

Now its post election, are we going to find out? Or is it all still supposition? I understand that the latest was that they are still waiting the results of toxicology reports. I'm not sure why they have not released the identities. The normal reason is that they haven't contacted the next of kin and they always try to do that first. Not sure this time as according to the reports I've read, the alarm was raised because they had been out of touch with their families.

Is the boat still there, parked up in York? Will District Enforcement be slapping a fine on it soon, for overstaying?

Old thread update;
No surprises really, when will carbon monoxide detectors be mandatory;
'Two men found on a boat in York city centre river died from carbon monoxide poisoning which leaked from an onboard heater, an investigation has found.
Ronald Vincent Holmes, 60, and Stephen Jewitt, 63, were discovered on a motor cruiser moored on the River Ouse in York last December.
An investigation into the "tragic" circumstances found a diesel fuelled heater leaked exhaust fumes into the boat’s cabin while they were ashore.
The men were overcome by a high level of carbon monoxide gas and died shortly after entering the cabin, according to the report.
The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) say no carbon monoxide alarm was fitted.
According to the report the heater was installed by the boat's owner but had not been professionally checked or serviced.'

Interesting. I wonder if it was one of the cheap Chinese diesel heaters.
They may be safe enough but in terms of integrity the very low cost of the units could arguably be said to increase the probability of poorly thought out and dangerous installations occuring.
CO alarms do seem to be now part of the BS scheme but presumably if the heater had not been checked then the boat was not subject to BS scheme anyway. Or it could have been installed between tests I suppose.
