We were never gentry and have not been anywhere near a hunt. Fortunately. Well they did used to come past the garden at one point but we did not engage with the vermin. our dogs were lurchers so it was rabbits and squirrels not foxes. Harrumph! Nouveau Riche poseurs! Posh povs.

It does seem to be mostly pushing the ecological side of it. Something about not wasting water. However when you live in Scotland, or England this past autumn, there doesn’t seem to be much shortage of water! Water not going into my toilet is just “wasted” anyway, flowing down rivers to the sea. Obviously when we didn’t have proper sewage treatment plants and all the shit went into rivers and coastal waters, that was bad (although the fish probably liked it, in moderation!) but I think there is very little raw sewage discharge these days. Anyway, the best thing about flushing loos and sewage treatment plants if you live in near the Thames, is that you know that those fools who choose to live in London will shortly be drinking your recycled shit and piss! Gives me a warm feeling. On a practical note how does it work? When I sit down for a big one, I normally pee as well. Is the urine somehow separated from the solids at the point of excretion, all mixed up or something else? Here you go, these look cheap enough. They can do you a riveted one on request. The butler might want time and a turd for handling your outpourings though. www.simploo.co.uk/

Yes it's embarrassing. The war effort then the post war boom. CBE award for bomb disposal all that sort of nonsense then to cap it off nick the pension money off of the employees and sell the factories for housing. Take the money and run. That sort of thing Eta There is a road in Swindon with my surname. Swindon! That's just sad. Also a road in Farnham with my surname and another road beside it named after the young chap who fried in the same plane wreck as my grandfather. I didn't know that until now just looked it up and noticed the place is named after them both as they were owner and chairman of the company when they were barbecued. New housing built on factory sites with new road layouts I guess. ETA Crosby Doors was Farnham's largest employer at one stage with 1000 people working in the factory.

Hmmm.... I have a good memory
After a very very quick search here's 3 quotes from Kris categorically stating he doesn't & hasn't used a Elsan to dispose of his compost...There are many many more similar posts by Kris!
I know who I believe out of Kris and yourself, I also think maybe your memory isn't quite as good as you like to think, after, all its not the first time you've posted untruths / downright lies about various posters on here!
Carts current guide limes for disposal of composting, is to bag it and put it in the normal waste bins. So why wouldd anyone want to put t in an elsan?
The real benefits of having a compost loo are you don't have to use public toilets to keep from filling your cassette to quickly, so visitors can use your loo as long as you remind them to sit down and put some sawdust/etc in when finished. You will never have to go into a dirty smelly elsan point ever again, also your cruising pattern doesn't have to revolve around where the elsan points are. You didn't mention wether ycor planing to cruise your boat or are going to be on a mooring.
Your right I don't use the elsan points, but I use the refuse disposal and water points, the showers are also most welcome as I don't have one onboard at the moment. I am community minded and see this as an attack on All boaters. You need to do the longer search.

I know he said he puts it in the bins Perhaps this was it? I'm pretty sure the comment was with the past couple of years. I think it could have been that someone's retort was "well, if you're going to put it in the bins you may as well chuck it down an Elsan disposal hole!" Have made a note to ask further about this, what people usually do with the waste (spread out in the forest?).

I would have a compost loo at home, do the job proper, compost and use it on the veg. I've read that this isn't a good idea. "but most experts agree that using human waste as compost is a bad idea." "In the home garden, composted human waste is considered to be unsafe for use around vegetables, berries, fruit trees or other edible plants. Although human waste is rich in plant-healthy nutrients, it also contains viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens that are not effectively removed by standard home composting processes." www.gardeningknowhow.com/composting/ingredients/composting-human-waste.htm

I quite like the expression "fruit of the ass" it made me giggle. Screenshot : From this thread thunderboat.boards.net/thread/1536/fitting-jabsco-macerator-toilet-tank?page=2
