Jane's a fan of the Blood Orange Whitley Neil ... quite unique. The Manchester one Thomas Daykin's gin is very good. We tend to drink gin (if it's a good 'un) straight but for a single ice cube ... cheap and nasty gin with tonic as a long drink. Whisky is always drunk straight by me ianali Rog Thatβs two real men on thunderboat then. Away up the Chinese now with neighbours and none boaty friends. Chinese beer for a while then onto the wonderful fireball. I need to drink lots as I always get asked lotsa silly questions about narrowboating... have a lovely night all.

Jane was bought some Gordon's Pink Gin this summer ... she found it too sweet for her. Being a gentleman I helped her out ... it is very sweet, but as a long drink with cold tonic I quite enjoyed it on a hot day Rog

I like spirits neat. Remy Martin, Bombay, Bells. I fancy making sloe gin, but it might be a year or two, just planted the blackthorn out back.

Bells is awful stuff. Only drinkable if diluted with Irn Bru.

If the bastard roe deer don't get them first. They seem partial to plum tree bark, I have put chicken wire round. I did try the plastic wrap guard but found toothmarks on it.

I used to drink dark rum but sadly no more I do occasionally partake of a daiquiri ..strawberry or banana... First time I went to Barbados, (about 1970) walked off the ship and wandered down the quay to the first bar (shack) where I was introduced to banana daiquiri ...... I thought they were fantastic ....... after a while and a couple more I thought I should really wander into town and have a look round .... so I tried to stand up

The pink gin is a very strong seller. At Reading festival even though its 16 to 20 age range we sold tons of the stuff.

I tried to make sloe (or is it slow) gin years ago. Picked sloes from canalside blackthorn bushes at the right time, pricked them with a needle as you do if picked before the first frost, put them in bonds of London sweet jar (glass one) with the gin.
After a couple of days I realised it was a waste of time so I decided to drink the gin followed by eating the sloes and spitting the stones in the fire.
How can people wait until christmas for this sort of thing? Talk about patience.

Mrs likes Eden Gin, Aldi sell it as own brand in the white bottles. Can't stand the stuff, I'll stick with whisky.

I am a great fan of Bushmills single malt, 10 yrs and 16 yrs. Then my brother brought me over some Armorik (Bretagne whisky) - it is just as smooth and the bonus is that it's cheap as chips (well on the Brittany ferry and in France it is).
