It looks completely pointless in that video but I'm sure there is a knack to it. It will work in 150mm of water. It will take you to the headwaters of the orinico in your shallow draughted punt. hardly. you would have to navigate the Raudales de Guaharibos rapids and run the gauntlet through waters infested with piranhas and crocodiles. the depth of water would be the least of your problems.

I reckon jim Riley could get rid of the wildlife by just telling a joke.

I suspect there are a large number of boaters who either can't swim or might be able to if their life depended on it. Well if people voting on a TB poll are anything to go by that blows my theory out of the water.

It doesn't matter ... mostly we're good swimmers Rog I find it interesting as I had sort of gathered over the 25 years living on boats and meeting about a dozen other boaters including some talking that a lot of them were not swimmers and some of them even had a fear of going on the water. Or maybe they were humouring me.

Perhaps when you said "Do you like swimming?" they mis-heard and thought you said "Do you like women?"

Perhaps when you said "Do you like swimming?" they mis-heard and thought you said "Do you like women?"Β Oh yes, the old silent S. Actually is was generally ladies who I spoke with about this so you may be onto something. Eta I have in the past defaced "no swimming" signs by removing the first and last letters but that was just for a giggle. I'm sure the meaning of the signage was still clear due to the spelling.

When we had the old slam-door trains in the south-east, virtually every sign on the doors that had originally read "Do not lean out of the window" had been changed to "Do not clean soup off the window".

The one we did on the trains was "please eat a disabled person"
Original "please give up this seat for a disabled person".
