I will follow my leaders on pollution issues. The flybe fiasco shows exactly how little Boris etc care about pollution. I doubt anything will change that will have any real impact on how I travel. Be that boat, car or motorcycle. It’s the usual thing, the majority get behind improving the environment until they have to pay for it.

I still struggle to see what the average joe can do about the issue We can't do a damn thing. There was a news story lately about how the bin men mixed up all the rubbish so diligently sorted by the nice and good householders. Apparently the bin men were to be given some stern words. But what was not discussed was how the bin men knew it was all just window-dressing because all the waste went straight to landfill anyway. I expect.

Sadly I doubt anything will change until there is a massive climate catastrophe killing millions. The fires in Austraiia are bad enough but everyone still seems to be in denial.
It must start with our world leaders leading by example but seeing as it's about 300 years since a leader lead his army out in battle in this country, I doubt it will happen.
The thing is that much of the action we all need to take is actually inaction. By that I mean not doing things we don't need to do and not buying crap we don't need. As Stabby points out, we need to live closer to where we work. It would also be a start it we stopped making stuff with built in redundancy.
The bottom line is that the world economic system based around money is incompatable with saving the human race from disaster. Insects will rule the world again and perhaps it will all start over again in a few million years when the planet recovers.
Happy New year everyone... ;-)

The Greenies kicked up a fuss because the Welsh Assembly Government has not purchased any electric vehicles, still buying petrol models. They obviously hadn't looked at a map of Wales as there is nowhere much you can get to on one charge and Mid Wales has sheep, not charging points!

So what will each of us say to our great grandchildren about what we did personally to cut back our CO2 etc etc.

So what will each of us say to our great grandchildren about what we did personally to cut back our CO2 etc etc. That's quite a good way to look at it but I also wonder whether it's wise to keep bringing children into this world when population growth is very much part of the problem. We could reduce the future population to almost zero if everyone stopped having children for about 40 years! Of course our leaders would need to lead by example on that too..

Convincing people to not reproduce could be problematic, given that a lot of people enjoy practising.

Neither of my sprogs will be reproducing exactly because of over-population and the extreme fast rate the world is eating itself. They do not believe it will be a good time for the next generation. Eldest is moving to NZ in a few months in an attempt to step back a few decades. Youngest and myself are ultra minimalists and consume almost nothing beyond basic survival.
None of that will make any difference of course, maybe slow the inevitable my a nano second.

I'm hoping my daughter's will be bean flickers and steer away from the reproduction issue.
We have already explained to them that this wonderful world is totally wrecked by greed but they still seem to be always very cheerful.

I suppose the way to do it is stop giving any incentives to having children, and I mean everything benefits the lot, cancel infertility treatment no free day care and build council houses with one bedroom! The signal will be if you want em its going to cost you dearly

The signal will be if you want em its going to cost you dearly so only rich people breed? The human race would be totally fucked then, if it isn’t already. It’s like a slow motion car crash.

Meanwhile, Warwickshire's most polluting vehicle pays zero VED.

Meanwhile, Warwickshire's most polluting vehicle pays zero VED. I don't think it is wise to clean your teeth with WD40. Just sayin......
