He is not great canal expert though, but that is not a criticism.

Have to say your spelling of cruising was much better than mine !!

My spelling tends toward the the unstructured creative end of the spectrum at the best of times and having a spell checker that is stuck in american english and therefore tends to confuse me even further doesn't help

We met him this year while he was filming at Stoke Locks, he's a nice chap. Our boat is in one of his videos too.

I have watched most of cruising the cut, its easy to follow and he appears to not have any agendas.

Graham Booth has written a couple of good books if you are fitting out a boat yourself:-
The Narrowboat Buliders book.
The Inland Boat Owner's Book

Pearson's guides to the canals are perfect, perhaps accompanied with a 1:50 000 Ordnance Survey Landranger map. How about going to Nantwich and Wrenbury? A video to inspire you:

Welcome.
Pearson's guides are terrific to read.
Nicholson's are easiest to use (in my view).
Try not to cram too much in. The 'point' of canals is to take it fairly easy and relax.
Enjoy your trip.
