All looked good to me... Doesn't cock up on the D I Y front =not quite right=individuality=OK The nearest bottom left screw is not exactly turned enough as the rest. Slot not parallel with the hatch. Ok ok i need help lol So, 2 options, loosen it so it leaks, or tighten it so it strips the thread in the grp and leaks.

Not needed at this thickness Jim, and a bit more to come when i lay up the rudder itself.

Interesting to see what seems to be a long cavitation plate fitted to the O/B leg, assume the next step is to add a rudder blade. Obviously designed for use at low speed. I used to fit "Dolphins" to my O/Bs when we were on the Broads. The fins were delta in shape with an airfoil cross sectìon and boy did the get the stern of the boat up to a point were you could be planing! Phil

I have decided to taper the lower leading corner though a little. If i ever go to sea i may well make a delta fin for it just to see but its not a fast boat at all.

Would it be possible to lay up the rudder and horizontal plate in one go, giving you one piece rather than 2 glued together with resin, the plate being well cured when you added the rudder. I'm comparing the twisting effects I've seen with the 10 and 20hp engines on rudder extensions. One piece would be inherently stronger, they grow jet turbine blades out of one crystal of steel. Academic thoughts really, if it works it works.

I was meant to do bond it to the cavitation extension plate as the rudder was going green but i was trying to multi task and let it to long so gave it full cure. If i used Epoxy then there would be less concern. I am confident though this will suffice. Good thought though Jim

Just like to share my relief as its not that bad an outcome from the BSS. It failed yes but only on a mistake by myself when i bought he fire extinguishers i addd the wrong one sto my ebay shopping basket. I usually check things when i get them but for some reason i didnt this time, but then it was a fair old shopping list. Not sure if a lot of fok kno wbut inland water ways and BSS regs state all fire Extinguishers and blankets needs the have the correct BSI Kitemark on them. Which these dont have. Just need to fit hem and send pictures of proof to the examiner for him to sign my boat off. So well happy and a relief as this is the first full rebuild/refit of a boat i have done from scratch. Now the dampen that mood not long after the cushions arrived. See picks as to why i was pissed off as after two weeks with trying to contact them due to no reply from them once they received the templates they cut them wrong. well three of them. These should be as marked on the bloody templates `90 degree edges` i mean come on not a clue what they were thinking. I have emailed them and sent pics so will call them in the morning and see what they are going to do. Oh and they didnt send the stockinette either.
