This topic can include narrow boats and other inland trading vessels. UK built only. Anyone mentioning dutch barges will be shot at dawn.I really like Humber keels but my mooring is limited to 14ft. If it were still just me I would go for a half converted Josher motor I think. Not wanting to risk my life, I'll better keep quiet then.
I do like Humber keels too, and most of all the "Sheffield size" ones.
Also the Leeds & Liverpool shortboats are high on the list of my favorite canal boats.
Peter.
I have lifted the ban on dutch barges A lot of them are very pretty I agree. My cousin has an old Skutsje which is lovely but not much indoor room an very limited headroom.

We have bumped into NB Sharpness twice - on the Stratford Canal and on the Coventry Canal. I was going to post 'The' Sharpness narrowboat Youtube video but won't, as last time it caused a bit of a stir. I see there are comments from just last week on this video that is still up on Youtube. I see johnv likes this post

I really like johnv's boat. Have not had the pleasure of seeing it in person (perhaps next spring if I can get my arose into gear and have a London-Medway trip via Sarfend in my launch).

When I get too old and infirm for living onboard, I would love to own a small tug, like the Stewarts and Lloyds type I've seen at the 'hysterical' boat show at Braunston. Just right for pottering about on.
There's one moors at the bottom lock at Braunston.

The shape of a "Skutsje" can be really lovely, and to see them racing is something quite unbelievable and has to be seen, but they are the lowest kind of the "Tjalk" type barges, so without a too high superstructure, it will be hard to create a decent headroom.
An other old English barge that I'd almost forgotten is a rather pretty old (1869) Calder & Hebble Keel that I met in France about 25 years ago, named "Pauline"

I was told ironclad had sold. With a transferable marina mooring in 'acne asking price was £130k !! Parbold - not sure where that is but there are some silly priced Humber Keels around canary wharf area. I went on the old Humber Lighter Bustard Thorpe the other day - nice old girl but she's about 90x17ft or something so really needs a big mooring. Also I like a boat I am 100% confident single handing in all conditions so that would be too big anyway. This is a link to the advert for parbold houseboats.apolloduck.com/feature.phtml?id=485493 as I say silly money.

A forum for discussion about small racing hydroplanes Oddly enough I had one of these when I was a teenager with a 20hp Chrysler on it. Will look for a photo. (A 8ft plywood hydroplane I meant)

Lol I don't really like what they have done to it either, apparently the bow cabin has been removed. Those raised entrances on the cabin top would be a pain in the arse if you wanted to go any where. But hey ho.
