Do we know of any stoppages coming up? I need to get a boat from Gayton Marina to Brandon creek I'm aware of the stoppage on the Northampton flight starting Monday

Guess you will be past by then, but I think the middle level has closures for dredging Jan-Mar 2017

Weston Favell Lock on the Nene is closed 1st December to 21st December.

Just to the moorings John. Bit more switched on for this trip, I've remembered to get my middle level windlass out of the garage!!

Sat near there to a mudweight one night, steak dinner washed down by a couple of bottles of Hobgoblin, for the first time in my life listening to a bittern "booming" ................. very close to heaven !!!

Sat near there to a mudweight one night, steak dinner washed down by a couple of bottles of Hobgoblin, for the first time in my life listening to a bittern "booming" ................. very close to heaven !!! It is such a lovely spot, big skies, plenty of stars and no human habitation nearby. Never known it to be crowded either.....we've generally been alone on the mooring. So looking forward to being there for new year.

The paddles on middle level locks require a windlass of a different design to ones on the main system

As TC eludes to. The design is different as the lock at Whittlesey has collars welded around the spigot to stop the scrotes tampering with the paddles. A deep reach windlass is needed.
