Apologies for posting this on TB, but I'd just get banned if I started posting on CDWF.
Can someone pull Mike Todd up on this part of his post;
They are principally about pastoral care to boaters with a special emphasis on those who find themselves in some sort of need. Although the immediate contact is often a physical need (housing, finance, enforcement etc) the chaplains are also well placed to give moral and spiritual pastoral care. They are, save for the single person in CaRT, the only group of people who aim to help boaters in this sort of need.
He seems to of missed out the many people who support those in need via furums or facebook groups or more informal community groups - not to mention people like Nigel and Tony working to get laws applied proportionately.
Apologies for the rant.

Thanks all.
I'm sure the chaplains do good work but so do so many others.

I can't help myself.
Someone ask him why,
They only help people in a given area, and why the Catholics/Methodists don't.
Ask him whether the Chaplains would provide the same support to an Atheist (with Buddhist tendencies) or a CoE diciple.

Further more, ask whether the Chaplains would provide support to a Muslim.

If anyone is still interested;
As a result of CarlT, Mike Todd has moved his position from one of 'the only group of people who aim to help boaters in this sort of need' to an organisation primarily set up to help boaters (my paraphrasing).
We also seem to be moving away from a CofE organisation to one that now includes the URC (a breakaway/free church who some in the CofE are still unhappy with).
I'm sure the chaplains do good (especially the URC guy - I've always found them more amenable than CofE).

Yes, they would help a Muslim or any other religion or no religion at all.
