I said someone would buy it cheap and put it in a shed you said the owner will put a tarp over it to try to reduce the chance of selling it too cheap. I don't think waiting for spring will make much difference on this but ability to store it for a long time might so either way I reckon its going to go close to scrap value

I don't know what you consider "scrap value" but around £1000 seems to be about the going rate for 6 cylinder marine engines.

I don't think it will get that much if the seller really needs to get rid of it quickly. The big drop in price implies that this is the case. This is why I made my shed comment earlier. Its a very nice bit of equipment if you want it but to paraphrase peterboat in another thread it might just be an expensive mud anchor

It's all about if you need to get rid of quickly. It would fit into a MFV lovely. I've seen those gearboxes go for more, on there own.

New pistons and liners 2015 yet here it is up for sale. Call me suspicious but something tells me it still wasn't right after it's partial rebuild.
