m.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/38185846Conspiracy theories abound! For me, he played the numbers game and did just enough to win the WDC. Not a great champion, but a champion none the less. Verstappen to Merc anyone?

Boring git, good riddance. Competent driver in a fast car, all that's annoying about German methodolicnessness.

It was a shame Vettel didn't fancy getting involved on Sunday, that would have put a spanner in the works!
Perhaps he isn't so much worried about Lewis in the same car, I wonder if the thought of the wonder kid in the 2017 spec cars whipping the champions arse was more than he could stomach?

Reading respected F1 journalist Joe Sawards blog, he seems fairly confident that Verstappen, Riciardo, Vettel etc are all contractually tied up tight until at least the end of 2017. They could possibly buy Hulkenberg out of his Renault contract...he's German and a good ( though not great) driver. Could put the inexperienced Wehrlein in but would possibly be a big ask to be team mate to Lewis. Fair play to Nico.....not in Lewis's league but has been focused and had the rub of the green most of the season. Here's hoping the 2017 cars give us a really competitive season.....I think Red Bull will be right on it with the new aero regs.

You could well be right on all accounts. 2017 looks to be a cracker - the French are back in the fold too

Out of interest I discovered recently why Jaguar are in Formula E from 2017 but aren't interested in F1. With the F1 rules being so tightly defined there is little room for real innovation that can assist road cars. Jaguar's focus being firmly on the future, Formula E is a much better fit for them. www.fiaformulae.com/en

F1 had sort of gone down a culdesac - yes the turbo motors are complicated and a bit of a technical marvel, but, any real world advance will not be from F1. What F1 needs to get right is its position, Bernie and co have really lost sight of what F1 fans want, whether this new Yankee crowd can find F1'S Mojo again remains to be seen. I don't think I've been more optimistic before the next season than this for some time. We shall see

I see Wehrlin getting the hot seat after his excellent performance with Manor.

I see Wehrlin getting the hot seat after his excellent performance with Manor. Lewis gets a number 2 then? I'd love to see Veratappen in the Merc- two drivers with that rare talent that puts them head and shoulders above their peers. Sure, Rosberg can pedal well enough in the best car on the grid, but has he ever put in a performance that got the very last ounce out of car and driver and came out on top? I don't think so tbh. No matter how good the Redbulls aero potential is I just can't see Merc having stood still. I must ask my mate who works at Brixworth his opinion on how well prepared they are for 2017.

Next season could be interesting with the cars being wider and faster. However with some of the older 'tighter' circuits the first corners on those tracks could be interesting. More points for the back of the grid perhaps

Verstappen to Merc anyone? Unless Red Bull have their drivers tied down watertight I can see josh at either Mercedes-Benz or ferrari with vettal joining Lewis. As much as I hate to say it as I love Williams. Such a plucky team. I can see Bottas fitting in at a top team. I can't say I'm sad to see rosberg go. He has no personality what so ever and a monotone annoying voice. I suspect he will end up driving for Mercedes in a different team like German touring etc.

Jenson Button hasn't entirely ruled out racing again. He would be no threat to Hamilton, but would score useful points for Mercedes.
Frankly I am pleased to see Rosberg leave, he comes across as a spoilt kid.

You want monotone ? Look no further than Raikkonen.... Spoilt kid / it's so unfair... introducing Mr Hamilton... How many tattoos do you need ? Max to Mercedes, have a proper fight with no team orders. Anything else will be a whitewash
